Hong Kong, China cagonuKELI -- One of the things we liked most about staying at K's House hostel in Tokyo was that we met a lot of great people, both travelers and locals. The first night we met a delightful young Japanese girl named Sayo, who had actually spent a year in Los Angeles studying English about 10 years ago, so she knew our home turf and spoke good English. She also went to school in New York to studying acting, so she and I hit it off talking about pursuing artistic fields in the entertainment industry...
Hong Kong, China davekeliAfter a 14 and 1/2 hour flight on Cathay Pacifc 885 (very nice). We arrived in Hong Kong at 6:20 PM. We took the bus into the city from the airport and arrived in the Causeway bay district to find our hostel. Honk Kong hostel is in the middle of Causeway bay. This district is very crowded with young people out to shop. There was not alot of great night life to be had here but the hostel provided a good central location to see the sights. Other than the location, Hong Kong hostel was mediocre...

Tuesday 27th October. We arrived in Hong Kong at 12pm with a 2 and a half hour time difference. The airport at Hong Kong is massive and efficient, though the left baggage costs were way too high for the month we wanted to leave a bag so will try to leave it at a hostel in town. We managed to get onto the airport bus into Kowloon easily and off the bus was a 3 minute walk to the guesthouse we had booked up on the 7th floor of the Sincere house building. In the building which is residen...
Friday 27th November. We arrived in Hong Kong at 1pm. Immediately the air is clearer than China. We navigated the metro to get to Kowloon’s Mong Kok area easily as we had been here before. At the 7th floor Hong Kong Budget hostel we found despite a mix up on our booking by us, but we could still get a room at Jacky Chan’s clean and efficient hostel. He had held our bag for the past 4 weeks for free which was great. Relaxing in our tiny window less room we planned to do little...

Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China mchavezI'm here in Hong Kong. Its raining and its supposed to keep on raining till August by the sounds of it. Its not that bad, when it rains lightly its very nice as it keeps the temp down. I went to get my Chinese Visa today, and learned something very interesting. Turns out the longest consecutive time I can spend in China is 30 days. The 3 month or 6 month visa, just mean you can use the 30 days within the 3 or 6 months that your visa is valid. So instead of spending 37 days in China, I'll have...
Hong Kong, China mo_kIts hard to believe I've been away from Canada for a whole week now. Time flies when your having fun, I guess. I'm still in Hong Kong waiting for my Visa. There are much worse places to get stuck in. I've found a few people here at the hostel to hang out with. Seems almost everyone here is waiting on a Visa to somewhere. Unless your a big shopper there isn't that much for sites in Hong Kong, certainly not a week or so worth. So now we are just hitting up some pubs. Usually start at the hostel...
Hong Kong, China mo_kI got my Visa into mainland China today, which was a huge relief. Although I did have a back up plan of heading to SE Asia, I'm much happier to be going into China. So the plan, as it stands now, is to go to Macau tomorrow for the night. Then catch the bus to Guangzhou on Wednesday, which for those of you paying attention at home would mean my 30 day visa would be up on the 24th of July and I'm not flying home till the 27th. So what does it all mean?? Well, there is a 50/50 chance that the bo...
