From Chunking Mansions to Four Seasons

A travel blog entry by jessrajan

Accomodation:Hong Kong was my first stop in Asia. I flew in late September 11th and spent the night in a very simple but clean and accessible hostel. For the following two nights, I was meant to be staying in a Hostel with my good friend and former roommate, Ashlee. Knowing Ashlee's travel experience, I trusted her judgement and booked Tokyo Hostel …

Hong Kong, Part Two - The Dark Side

A travel blog entry by markandnanna

Wow.... what a contrast is all we can say.

Before checking out of the Dragon we strolled over down the corridor to the Hong Kong Budget to check in and were met by the rudeness and strangest man we've come across. He wanted us to pay in US Dollars which came out more than in Hong Kong Dollars (but only by much) and kicked of a stink when …

Hong Kong and Cheap Michelin Star Restaurants

This is a top pick!

Hello everyone,

so after an amazing flight from Bangkok (thanks to Sri Lankan Airlines superb service) we arrived in the bustling and busy city of Hong Kong. Hong Kong is teeming, tightly packed, and outrageously overwhelming, so nothing we are not used to. But unlike other cities we had encountered so far in Asia, Hong Kong is …

Early days in Hongkong

Just starting to get my Asia feet under me … and it is slow.
I have the hang of taking pictures of the landmarks so that I can show them to
people who do not speak English and they can direct me to where I want to be. I have the card of the place that I am staying
and I am just getting the tram system in my head. The break between …

Shocking stay at this hostel. Go to the Dragon Hostel just up the corridor!
The owner threatened us and was very invasive. He went into our room without our permission on numerous occasions and when caught said he can do what he likes! Even changed the wifi password so we couldnt use it.... AVOID!!!

Tiny Room, bathroom in a cupboard, but new towels daily

Accommodation in Hong Kong is very expensive and this was one of the cheapest we found at £11 a night. Our room was in a seperate apartment so we had no wifi unless we went to the owners apartment. The building itself is pretty dingy, smelly and dirty but this is the same for all hong kong unless you are willing to pay big bucks. We heard of people paying £25 a night for a dorm that was worse than ours and was in an illegal building. Therefore this is probably a good choice considering the price, the room itself was clean, we had hot water, aircon, and wifi (despite it being in another area).

Clean, friendly and in the shopping district just minutes off of the tram. Bus 11 is at the door to the airport so it is wonderfully central to Causeway Bay.
