Last stop Sydney.....

A travel blog entry by markandnanna

We arrived into Sydney early on the Sunday and made the short walk up to our hostel. There was no point hanging around and so we got pretty much straight out and ventured towards the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge - two sights which were amazing and just as we got there the blue sky decided to come out and although a few clouds, we hope …

Sydney Harbour

In the morning we went for breakfast in The Rocks area. The Rocks is the original harbourside european settlement and there are a lot of 19th Century buildings and excavations of former slum streets to look at. Very interesting! We walked to and fro across the Sydney Harbour Bridge - built by a company from Middlesbrough!! - and climbed …

It was a toss-up today whether we should head across the harbour to Manly and spend another day at the beach or if we should jump on the train to the farthest stretches of the city limits and explore the Blue Mountains. The sun made the decision easy as we did not want to walk in the forest in the heat and the idea of topping up my tan seemed …

Bondi Beach Rescue

We decided to take the bus to Bondi Beach today and just relaxed in the sun in the sandy heaven just outside the CBD. It is only about 7km outside the city and took about 30 minutes on the bus to get there. It is a bit of an institution in Sydney and it more than lived up to expectations! "Bondi" is an Aboriginal word meaning "noise of water …

Unlike South America the bus does not drive all night, switching drivers, instead the same driver has to stop for breaks every four hours or so and everyone is required to get off the bus. Not a nice …

You get what you pay for here. It is perfectly passable. Not really enough kitchen facilities to go around and toilet/shower arrangements are cozy to say the least.
Reasonable location and good price, not bad for a short stay.
