Arriving In LAX
Arriving in LAX at 10pm is not fun, especially when the customs officers take another hour to process half the flight. (Now I know where they put all the disabled and Mexican people who join the police force) When my moustached border guy asked me how I was getting to my hostel, I felt like dropping him, but that would only dampen my holidays! So …
Healthy LA
What to say about Los Angeles... it's not my city, but I already knew that from a previous experience, but it is the only way to go to the next destination (Flagstaff / Grand Canyon) by train, so thought I might as well give it another go.
Stayed in a hostel on Hollywood Boulevard for the first night, I arrived very late as the train was …
Los Angeles
We left for the USA at 5.50pm and arrived (via San Salvador) at midnight. Despite the fact that we hadn't exited the US properly (and that we had foolishly got Cuban stamps in our passports) we got in ok. We took a shuttle to our Hollywood hostel and checked in to our dorm to be greeted by a Russain girl saying it was very inconvenient having David …
Free Stress Test!
After a 14 hour flight, I arrived in Los Angeles this morning at around 9am, effectivey 6 hours before I left. Quite a strange feeling.
I took a shuttle bus to Union station and a train from there to my hostel right on Hollywood Boulevard. I am sharing a room with a French guy, Sami, and another mystery guy who apparently hasn't been seen …
The La Brea what?
One of the lesser known attractions of Los Angeles are the La Brea tar pits, evidenced by the fact that no-one knows what the **** I'm talking about when I tell them I went there today. Still, mammonths and sabre-toothed tigers are my kind of thing so this morning I set off to take a look.
I don't like carrying maps around (which is …

TravelPod Member ReviewsHollywood International Hostel Los Angeles
There were cameras in the women's restroom. The hostel is not was is pictured on their website. It is freezing cold and dirty.
This was the worst experience I have ever had staying anywhere. There are large picture windows without curtains. There is little privacy in the women's shower area. The public can see into the women's shower area from the street. In the sleeping room I had to hid in a corner just to get dressed.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.
