This review applies primarily to the Carriage House as we were lucky to reserve the entire building and it was gorgeous and a great deal - I doubt we could have found a better place. Centrally located, fantastic facilities, spotless, super staff, designated parking space. We felt like we were staying in a luxury apartment rather than a backpack hostel. We can't speak much to the main facility as we were primarily in the Carriage House.

Hogwartz is a nice and clean hostel with big and comfy rooms and king size beds, if you've booked a shared room. The bathrooms are modern and clean and the kitchen achieves all your needs. Here and there you can find some surprising links to the Harry Potter universe.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Although the hostel doesn't has a living room (just a dining room with an extra deck), it's still a cosy place to stay.

Another great city hostel in the south island. The owners are extremely nice and the hostel itself is really cool, located in a 1800s or early 1900s building. Showers and kitchen are great. The only con is that there aren't enough sockets in the dorms...

I continued my way down to Dunedin and visited the Royal Albatross Centre, where you could survey Albatrosses hedging eggs. The birds are huge and real beauties while flying. But while breeding, they just look like big, fat seagulls, do not move at all and take one nap afte r the other.

Woke up just after sunrise and had a lovely breakfast of bacon and eggs. Got the dishes done in short order then went for a long walk along the beach at Surat Bay. Did not see any sea lions, which this area is supposedly known for, but looked at a lot of interesting sea shells. Headed off smartly at 10:00 a.m.
