Great views, great place to relax

It was worth nearly killing myself going up the hill with my backpack, with a bad cough, to get there. I took a double room (actually with a bunk at one end too) for $86. More space than I needed just for me but I could have paid more for my own room in some mega hostel in the center, if they even had anything available at this time in winter. The big plus of being up the hill was the great views across Queenstown, the lake and to the mountains. My room didn't have a spectacular view but the lounge and kitchen, shared with just three other rooms, did. Free wi-fi and friendly, helpful staff were an added bonus. I can't fault this place really, so it gets my first 5 star review. Be careful not to go too fast up the hill after a Fergburger!

Great place. Relaxed, warm, clean. The only problem with it is the monster uphill walk to get there.

On the way out of Wanaka we stopped at Puzzling World. Now, I quite like mazes but I prefer them on the simple basis of entering and finding the way out. When I realised that you had to find the way to four towers, and then work out the way to the exit, I lost interest a bit. Trying to find my way out, I stumbled across the yellow tower. Then I …

As soon as we'd checked in to our hostel in Queenstown, I went and booked a hang-gliding for the next day because we were going to stay a couple of days. Queenstown is the adventure capital of New Zealand, and that is what some people have come to New Zealand for. For them, this is their mecca.
