Brilliant facilities we made use of the laundry room, kitchen, free breakfast and activities on offer by the hostel.

The HI Montreal was a superb place to stay. It was really easy to get to the hostel from where the greyhound drops you off, with clear instructions from their webpage. The check in process was very simple and you can feel a good atmosphere from as soon as you walk in the door. The rooms are very clean, neat and simple (linens and towels are included). They run activities through out the week and are lots of fun. There are pub crawls and interesting walking tours of the different parts of the city. I would definitely stay again and recommend this place highly.

Despite sleeping on the floor last night Blake and I slept soundly... can't complain with free accommodation!

This morning is our last with mum and dad. The original plan was for them to just drop us at our hostel where we would be meeting up with our Moose Network tour group later this evening.

This morning we met our tour guide, her name is Beth. She is a local girl from Montreal. Our tour group is tiny with only two other people. They are both women, Kat from Scotland and Sabrina from Lichtenstein. It looks like its going to be pretty much a private tour!

After breakfast, Beth took us on a walking tour of Montreal. We walked …

We caught a night bus from New York to Montreal which took 8 hours, saved us on a hostel for the night but border control at 3 in the morning was an experience. We managed to find a really cheap hostel for just a tenner a night with a good kitchen so we could save on eating out. It was very hot at 30 degrees every day.

On my last day in Toronto I joined the "Mohawk" Bus Tour by Moose Travel Networks because this tour has all travel and hostel expenses, park entry fees etc included. As I am travelling on my own, that tour saved me some money plus you have a guide (Beth in our case) showing you around the cities, you're in a group of travellers and you might see …
