... that was built in 1300s which burnt down in 1697 ( 70 years before Cook found Australia) and three soldiers were tried and put to death by running the gauntlet in 1698...fascinating... The burning took all the early artefacts and archives of Sweden so accurate records of this period are not available...even on Google!! There was even an assassination there..The King, Gustav 3rd was shot during a masked ball in 1792. They got the fellow and quartered they did in ...

... wander in the centre of Helsinki. There were some international markets at the back of the train station and I did buy some linen table runners, but restrained myself from buying some linen tops which were lovely, but I thought they were expensive for their quality! Sarina was back by the time we returned and Alex wanted to go back out with her, as two buskers playing a xylophone had not been there earlier and he was hoping ...

... and lion ones but the favourite for us all were the pygmy marmosets which were so tiny and cute (they are the size of a thumbnail when born) and sat cuddled up ignoring the noisier funky monkeys around them.
We had a good laugh at some of the warning signs around - the pictures suggested you shouldn't tip the birds or hit the animals with sticks but smoking was allowed!!
Guy had been so disappointed not to see a wild boar in France so we headed for the wild ...

I CANNOT describe the absolute disappointment. Especially since my connecting flight was in 26 hours, I doubt they would have let me bum around the general area of the airport. Plus I was really, really looking forward to a shower. And somewhere ...
