... to occupy myself with before my flight, so headed to the Contemporary art gallery, Kiasma. Normally I'm not a huge fan of modern art, but this was actually pretty good. ... photo of Susan in a crown chair. It had a sliding wire crown on the back so that when you sat in it you could adjust the metal crown to fit the seated person. Clever. We hear some things about WWII. Angry Birds was invented here! We had a boat ride on the archipelago. The boat was 82 years old. I nearly froze on the top deck from the wind over the water. It was so warm I did not take a jacket. Then we were taken to villa Haikko restaurant ...
... upscale touristy so the places were pretty expensive, and we wanted to save quality Finnish food for the next day - when we could appreciate it better. After quite a bit of wandering, during which we came across a beautiful church, we found some hole-in-the-wall Mediterranean place. Cheap, tasty. Good enough!
Tomorrow we'll do real stuff - walking tour, Finnish food, more pictures, more luggage. But here's some for now.
... German influence. This is where French beer is brewed. It is also the site of the European Parliament so the city has an international feel. We had dinner at a nice little restaurant next to the hotel that served Alsatian specialities which involved pork and sauerkraut.
