Close to the best place we've stayed so far in Europe! And the first place we ran into American's! Crazy! All the staff here were sooooo nice and the villa we stayed in was beautiful, it over looked the pool which over looked the country side of Tuscany! Italy is so beautiful, just like in all the pictures, but better! And very romantic! We arrived late on Sunday and they had a pasta dinner and a glass of red wine for us to eat, and it was just sooo cool!! We had the time of our life there, w...

I am really glad that we decided to take a few days and just relax in Tuscany. It is nice to get out of the city and see the countryside. We found a lovely hostel near San Baronto situated up on a mountain. It has a wonderful view, authentic villas, a pool that belongs at a luxury resort and a real Italian family living below us in the main house. I am listening to them speak in Italian right now! Apparently our host's family has been here for 700 years. We headed up here on Sat...
Today was a long day of traveling! We left the hotel in Golf Juan at 7:15 and took a taxi (a Lexus at that-only the best for us!) to the train station and then we took 5 trains and a shuttle bus to our next hostel. It was a very long day of traveling (over 13 hours!) and we were very tired when we got to the hostel! The view from the train was beautiful! The beach and the Alps were postcard perfect! I loved seeing it! It made the trip go a little faster!! When we got to the hostel, they gave ...
Vinci, Tuscany, Italy tanarae01Today was a good day! We got up early and had breakfast at the hostel. It was ok. Not the best breakfast ever, but also not the worst. We met a new friend, Emma from South Africa and we made plans to walk to Vinci, which is about 7 miles from the hostel. We set out very eager, but after 2 hours of walking, we got very tired! We finally made it to town and saw the church where Leonardo DaVinci was baptized. Inside there were replicas of his most famous works. It was neat to see. We ate lunch a...
Vinci, Tuscany, Italy tanarae01What a great day! We took the train into Florence today. We all went to lunch together at a small cafe and shared pizza, afterward I walked around with Anna from Seattle and we did the more touristy things while Sarah, Cassie and Kim did more of the shopping thing. Anna and I had a really great time. We saw so many beautiful churches and buildings! It was so much fun to walk around and just see the sights! Plus, we got gelato! What more could you ask for? Everything here is so amazing and old...
Florence, Tuscany, Italy tanarae01... for most of the journey.
After getting back to Florence and walking from the train station back to the hotel, we felt a little better (fresh air?). We got back to our room around 4:00pm and just relaxed for several hours, reading, snoozing, going online. I finally started feeling hungry later afternoon, but not Murray! Around 7:30pm, we felt well enough to take a long walk around our neighborhood. We found another great ...
Florence, Tuscany, Italy frdrick... as the place was so cramped and nothing else to do in town, but ended up having a good night both nights we were there.
Sunday did the walk between the 5 towns from Riomaggore to Monterosso. Took about 4.5 hours including thestops in each town to check them out.
The views out over the Ligurian Sea are stunning. Leaving one town and seeing the next far off in the distance, and sometimes a lot higher up in altitude, was really cool.
