UPDATE 1: Plans for a new house...

... the other children

Srey Dine, the 9 yr old daughter can be quite demanding! She is adorable and as her English is limited to “hello” I hear “hello Kellie” about a hundred times a day! If I am working in the office, she will walk by the door to catch my eye and say “hello Kellie”! She is the one I really think will benefit from being at school, if only to alleviate some boredom and restlessness.

Not another ruined temple!

... evident now. What was really enjoyable was the longer journey in the tuk tuk going past all the normal villages with stalls selling all manner of stuff, including an amazing range of basket wear – you name the purpose and I’m sure someone here will weave something to suit. It was difficult to take photos from the moving tuk tuk – I just wish I could have shown you the motorbikes with whole family groups of up to 4 or 5 on them, complying with the letter of the law ...

Siem Reap Day 165 (1st Nov)

... the baby. We them indulged our guts in some Angkor and sat at one of the several round tables, kitted out with table clothes and cambodian buffet food. Everyone at the party was pretty wasted, including Jonesy and Jake, lol. Jonesy gave us a lift back, whilst still pretty skunk drunk, we made it home in one piece, the memory I took from that journey was Jonesy commentating about his extra curricular activities and his snake! Lmao.

Going solo again

... I got a free lift into town after dropping off my stuff and after much discussion with a travel agent, I ended up changing my itinerary. So, I am now staying two nights in Siem Reap and catching the bus early on Saturday morning to Bangkok, missing out the night at the border and the Thai train. This allows me to have a full day to explore the world famous Angkor Wat tomorrow. After an exhausting day I sat down at one of many cafes with a cold beer and a new dish I tried, amok.

The Majesty and Heat of Angkor Wat

... have no lasting value. #3: It encourages
behaviors that aren't good traits: namely begging. As soon as the
kids start running asking “Money, lady” I shake my head no and
ask them why they aren't in school. Then they'll either give me the
line “school later”. Mike has a harder time because he smiles and
they think they can sweet talk him into giving up some goods. The
cute little girls especially go for Mike – at times it's amusing to
watch ...

Don’t look back in Angkor

... world and stretches out over 1 square kilometre and is surrounded by a two hundred metre moat. The temple was built around the 11th century and is decorated by beautiful, incredibly detailed reliefs of the Hindu religion. It was an odd experience visiting somewhere so famous; however we both enjoyed it very much. Over the next 48 hours we visited about a dozen other temples of various styles and sizes and marvelled at the craftsmanship of ...

I Left Cambodia and Lived to Tell this Story

... systems all around. I myself have visited Aztec and Inca temples and ruins and let me just say that those civilizations seem like amateurs compared with the Ancient Khmers. The stones were brought in to built the temples from 55 kilometers away and were put together using no mortar. But that fact alone does not blow the temples of South America out of the water: the sheer complexity, size, and amount of temples does. The park takes space along hundreds of ...

Incredible Angkor...

Been in Cambodia for 3 days now and the place is nothing is nothing like I thought it was when we went through Poipet (somewhere i hope i never see again). Its really nice here in Siem Reap, the people are nowhere near as forceful as on Khao San Road, the food stunning and the drink is 0.50USD for a glass. Sold.

After out border crossing adventure we went for a walk into town where we had a few beers and just sitting there Aly spots some friends from home! It really is a small ...
