Wild West

Siem Reap
is like the Wild West. Heat, dust, construction boom, cheap alcohol, tuk tuks (like horse carriages)...
Many children go to English schools because Siem Reap is a touristic place and English is vital for their survival.

Siem Reap is full of market shops and full of tuk tuks. There is simply too much competition and is …

Siem Reap - feeling like Lara Croft in the temples

We did a lot of research about the bus journey to Cambodia because we had been warned on numerous occasions that this could be scam city. We decided to play it safe by taking an over priced government bus (because we thought it would be more trust worthy ) rather than a transit from many of the vendors near khaosan road. Despite being on a …

Temples, Khmer Crocodiles & Ladyboys

Siem Reap - our first stop in the wonderful Kingdom of Cambodia. Upon the landing approach into Siem Reap Int. Airport (REP) all I could see was bright orange clay roads and water. So much flooding across the flat ground surrounding the city. The flight was great, no hassle - recommend Vietnam Airlines :) Having rashly booked a guesthouse night …

We are greeted from our boat by an enthusiastically waved sign welcoming us, and held by one of the nicest people you could hope to meet, Tommy, who becomes 'our' tuk-tuk driver for the week. He has been sent by our guest house, and the drivers are always very keen to meet and welcome you as this is their best chance of securing work, rather than …

Big tour in Angkor Wat

A travel blog entry by batgirl

Woke up 4:15am (!!) to catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat at 5:45am. Only had 4hr of sleep. Uh oh not good considering I had a rough+uncomfortable bus ride to SR the previous night.

A misunderstanding with our arranged tuktuk driver (Mr Don). We expected a $12 for the whole day big tour but to make a long story short, we walked away from him …

A great place for those who like everything organised for them, with reasonable prices attached. The rooms are also great. Thanks!

The hotel is clean, the bathroom was clean, the sheets were clean. The room was bright and airy.
The staff are fab, smiley and helpful. The manageress can organised pretty much anything for you. We used their tuktuk driver for 3 days to see the temples -really easy way to see loads!
Free internet and water on arrival and departure.
Can't praise them enough.
