... The boys were finally allowed their beer back! The hotel was a little dirty too, but i had a haircut and a foot massage for the pricely total of 4 pounds!

On Friday (6th) we stopped for food in Halong City (yes rice again)! There was a traffic jam on the way home and I had to hitch a lift with a moped in order to make my train to Hue (Who Ey) at 7.20!

... work hard to try to please you.

I've grown tired of bartering for xeom's and just riding too. Paying for them sometimes several times a day can get costly so I'm taking the plunge and renting a motorbike. It's a Yamaha Nouvo. They will deliver it to the school on Saturday and then I can take the weekend to try to get comfortable on it before I venture out into the big, bad streets of Hanoi. And they are crazy as many of you have seen in the photos ...

Not for the squeemish...

... the snake was poisonous or not, Drew was reluctant to take said snake! After being reassured that the snake was harmless, Drew took the slippery little sucker. It squirmed a lot which made Drew squirm so he quickly passed it to me to hold long enough for a pic and was then given back to the handlers. They then took out a cobra from the small cage using a pair of chopsticks! It was not happy... They put the cobra on the floor and banged the floor in front of it with ...

HANOI: thinking about killing

... for parking your car, motorcycle, sitting on your stool, and so on. If you want to walk, you do it in the road of course.

Speaking of which, crossing the road in Hanoi is a lot of fun. The traffic never stops, so you just walk and pray. And by some miracle, the traffic doesn't hit you (see video)

The other well known fact about Hanoi, is that it is home to Bia Hoi, the cheapest beer in the ...

Hanoi and Halong Bay

... The best bit was one particular Swedish guy who kept shouting 'Swimming naked in the sea is the best thing ever!'. The worst bit was when Ciaran came up to me under the pretence that there was something interesting to look at in the distance. He was actually talking a **** on me. Again, not so good. Our final day of the trip was spent getting back to the boat and then sailing to the port where we were driven back to Hanoi. It was such a fun experience and the scenery ...

First stop in Vietnam

... more genuine. As yet we haven't met a Vietnamese beggar, instead of begging the poor try to sell you something or offer assistance. We got the impression that here the people are very hardworking and they are even very fit - we saw people of all ages jogging or walking, playing badminton and even came across a group of middle age women doing aerobics in the park. After withdrawing 8million Vietnamese Dongs from ...
