... were a quite underwhelmed. Once again, probably due to a lack of our own intoxication. Oh well, we had fun anyway singing the "irish drinking song" game from "Whose Line Is It Anyway."
The night ended back at the hotel, and we just decided to take it easy. I think we're all getting pretty tired of living out of backpacks and sleeping on trains. Speaking of trains, we have an early one tomorrow so goodnight all!

... also how the Japanese did in Asia and Pacific during the war. We should keep remembering how cruel those were, but again, not to blame, but not to forget for our future.
There are still many wars and violence going on in the world. Japan and Japanese people really should take this role to send the message out to the world, "war is not the answer, violence wouldn't solve anything in a long run".

I came to Sapporo last year with my friends. On the last day, I went to visit the Ainu museum in Shiraoi by myself. Since then, I got in the PhD program, and I am focusing on the indigenous issues. Ainu culture is such beautiful. I got so much interest in their culture since then. This time, I came to Sapporo to meet up with more people. Haruzo from Kimitsu had me connect with Nanako. She's a graduate student at the Hokkaido University. We talked on the phone. She ...

We're in Sapporo now and it's absolutely amazing. However the hostel is charging ten yen per freaking minute to use the internet - which adds up to roughly $10 AUD an hour. So there won't be any further posts until we reach Tokyo again in another three days.

... pass (worth ¥55000 itself). After that we split ways. Dave and I went to check out the famous pentagonal fort, Goryokaku. The Western style fort was initially constructed as a precautionary measure when the Hakodate port was first opened up for foreign trading. The 5-sided design meant that defenders could surround the enemy and attack from all sides. Not much of the actual fort was left, although the double set of 3m walls that ran along the unusual shaped perimeter were ...

... Park. In Sapporo, I paid a visit to not only the festival venue, but also Old Government Building, the Clock Tower and Sapporo Olympic Games venue. I also visited a glass-making factory in Otaru. I went there with my uncle and aunt and it was the first and last time to travel with them.
