... a huge machete was used to deftly hack and trim till a straw could be popped in. We shared that while walking almost 1km through the jungle to the ruins. It was very cool and shady, while out in the sun was quite hot. We wandered around an amazing site of ruins, roped off among well tendered lawns. The English interpretations were rather lame. Our flight from Cancun to Toluca was at 2.35pm, the reason we are flying to Toluca is because it was $50 cheaper than flying direct to Mexico City, in Toluca you can get a bus for 60pesos that takes an hour to get to Mexico City. So we got up and had our free breakfast, which was basic but nice, we checked out at 12 and waited for a taxi to the airport. The taxi driver was a great guy, he was an older man from Palenque who didn't speak English but loved to chat to us in Spanish and ...

... country! However, they said that they had unblocked them a few hours later when they saw that we had been travelling a lot and enough time had elapsed for us to travel from Bogota to Mexico. All this was despite us having previously told both HSBC and Nationwide that we would be arriving in Mexico on the 20th of March.

All in all it was a successful morning, and it got better still when we arrived back at Cancún Airport at midday to find Jemma's bag waiting for ...
