Reflecting on our Central American journey

... The best and most known is a Nicaraguan rum known as ‘Flor de Cana’ and super nice - a must try. This company has gone gang busters across Central America and is taking the market by storm.

    • Beaches - the beaches all across Central America are amazing. The Pacific side of the peninsular provide beaches with swell, and some of the most spectacular sunsets we have ever seen. For those surfing junkies out there, this is a must! On the other ...

On our first day we went exploring, we couldn't believe how little there was in the hotel zone where we are staying so caught the bus for 50p into town. We have decided that this is the biggest culture shock that we have ever experienced! Probably because cancun is only 43 years old, it's just quite plain, the town centre didn't really have a centre, there was a good tat market that we got lost in but that's about it. At about half 12 we decided to leave town just ...

      'Welcome to Mexico'

A travel blog entry by princesspanky on Feb 18, 2014

For a fairly advanced country I have observed that this place is so backward in many ways. For example, the internet connection in our apartment has always been, shall we say, ropey. It comes on for a while and then it disappears. To make matters worse the router is in the apartment below which is a vacant holiday home. Our landlady gave us the wifi code so we can use it but when it cuts out we have to contact her so she can go in there and restart it. So ...

... cash out, and only Bethan's card had been accepted; although
luckily the next ATM we found proffered cash, so stress levels were high.

The single redeeming feature of city however was definitely the beach. We had
managed to catch blissful glances of the bright turquoise water and white sand,
and so even in the dark we could see how beautiful it was. The beach is the
only attraction to this very odd place. Ironically on ...

After landing in Cancún (with Business class - Upgrading is a good system!) we made our way straight to Isla Mujeres. No need to spend more time than necessary in horrible Cancun.

Isla Mujeres was very relaxing. It's small but you have everything you need close by.
We went for a ride around the island, went for a swim and dove for more than 2h. My foot is still sore :)
