We arrived in Boston by train at about 8pm and walked the few blocks from Back Bay Station to our hostel. First impressions were, of course, dramatically different to stepping out into New York - Boston had a much more relaxed and 'studenty' feel, especially the area where we were staying. Personally, my spirits were a bit low as we made our way to the hostel, since we were leaving a palacial apartment for another dorm room with (potentially) more people who thought it was a good idea to air ...
Boston, Massachusetts, United States ajbattyWell this is now the first time I have worn gloves. Apparently Chicago is going to be colder and Vancouver warmer then Chicago (for now), so I am glad that we will only be spending one night there! Boston is a pretty town and I can see why it appeals to so many people. The first day we just wondered around. When we had checked in there was a sign for a free premier of the new James Bond movie and to meet in the foyer at 6:15pm for all who were interested. I had just been saying to Jason that ...
Boston, Massachusetts, United States allseySamstag 19.07. Besond...
Boston, Massachusetts, United States anproI'm in Boston!!!! Yay, I've always wanted to come here. I drove for ten hours today and after sitting in stop and go traffic throughout pretty much the ENTIRE state of Connecticut there was a lot I wanted to say, but I don't remember it because I'm in Boston!! (You think this is bad...when I passed NYC I called my parents to leave a message with me pretty much screaming I see New York, I see New York!! Sorry Dad and Rita, but that's part of unconditional love!) :) Anyway, it took forever and...
Boston, Massachusetts, United States bashleyfToday has been the longest and coolest day so far and it's only 5:30. Today I walked the entire freedom trail (I only meant to walk part, but following the red brick road is fun), saw Boston Common, Public Garden, Faneuil Hall and the marketplace, took a ferry, and saw Harvard. In a few minutes I'm off to see Fenway Park and then I'm going back to Boston Common and Faneuil Hall to see them at night. Boston's T is a bit more confusing than DCs metro, but still easy enough to figure out. All t...
Boston, Massachusetts, United States bashleyfSo I was hoping to come back to the hostel and go to bed cause I'm exhausted, but I have three new roommates who seem to have taken over the room. I figure I'll come write this and then I'm going to bed whether they're still up reading magazines and gossiping or not. I'm getting sick...on my last day of work before this vacation I could feel a cold coming on but I completely forgot about it. I thought my exhaustion was due to me pushing myself, but I'm definitely getting sick. It sucks, but ...
Boston, Massachusetts, United States bashleyf Running up and down the major (Chinatown) cities on the east coast are the Chinatown buses. They´re as dirt cheap as the Megabus in the UK (indeed, Megabus USA runs a similar service on the same routes) but they have films and free wifi...and they´re less popular with those that didn´t quiet make it onto the Trisha Show. No downsides then, and i took one from DC to Boston...
Aside from traffic causing massive delays, the trip was uneventful. I met two New York girls heading up to Bost...
Welcome to Boston! After a plane landing that resembled a rollarcoaster ride and a full cavity search in customs PLUS minus 6 hour jet lag it was somewhat a relief to reach the hostel! A good night's sleep did the trick however and I woke to my first morning ever not in Europe! First destination was Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox baseball team, for the tourist tour. As a sporty type myself I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the history of the Sox delivered by a particularly charismat...
Boston, Massachusetts, United States davewhite88Arriving in Boston at 2.30pm, having left New York City at 10am (and pulling a random Greyhound employee named Marvin in the process) I discovered it has recently been snowing here and is super cold. The subway - known locally as the T - is easy to navigate (it only has 4 lines) and you need to buy a 'Charlie Card' for $2 per ride. Having not slept a lot for the past two nights, it was good to find that my bed was very comfortable, in fact the whole hostel in my opinion was flawless. I rested...
