Then it was off to Copacabana, Lake Titicaca and Isla del Sol, which is an island with Inca ruins and treks which is perfect practice for Peru and Machu Picchu. So we arrived in Copacabana at about 8.30pm with no idea where to stay, but a quick wander up a side street led us to a guesthouse that was 20 bolivianos each for a room with private bathroom (that's about 1.30). after a quick dinner of trout we had an early night ready to catch the morning boat to Isla Del Sol for a couple of days of...
Copacabana, Bolivia elliotandcarlaAfter leaving Cuzco we took a "tourist bus" to Puno, which stopped at a few ruins and sights along the way. This was when we first encountered the french couple. They immediately draw our attention (and everyone else's in the immediate surrounding) when they sat down on 4 seats instead of on 2 seats on a totally full bus. Hence the next people who where entering the bus had to climb over them. They then started asking very loud and obnoxious questions whenever the tour guide started explainin...

Copacabana, Bolivia thenahms... now that's 10B per person", instead of asking politely for a tip. He got nothing from me.
The plan is to walk back south along the hill crests, to a village where our boat waits us. The scenery is even more beautiful with altitude, more barren, with small Inca ruins along the path. At about mid-way 2 guys stop tourists and sell them "entry tickets to the south part". It's 1h-1h30 walk to the northern main ruins and it's ...
Isla del Sol, Bolivia thomasboulier... bolivian side : people are very cool. I mean the "slow, no stress" kind of cool, almost sleepy.
2nd : It's cheap ! :). And poor, true.
So I arrive in Copacabana for cheap, find a cheap hostel, buy some souvenirs for cheap, and go along the lakeshore. It's sunset. Pretty.
I'm hungry so I head for one of the nearby restaurants, all serving trut. As I write this, it's dark outside and I finish my trut with garlic sauce, Manu Chao playing through the speakers. I feel good.
Copacabana, Bolivia thomasboulier... frequent stops.
The hostels were very basic with very little running water so showering was near on impossible and most of us just decided not to bother...
That evening we went for pizza in basicly a mud hut. where they played bob marley constantly! an interesting evening..

anyway some info on the lake from Wikipedia
located on the border of Peru and Bolivia. Copacabana, Bolivia jonsharland... decide to head off again and soon realise that the swell is a bit bigger than when we set off, and its quite hard to paddle. We´re doing fine for time though so no problem. We have paddled for about half an hour and have reached the point where we set off from after our break as we had drifted so much initially. Slightly disheartened I look around at the beautiful scenery and then notice the storm clouds in the distance. They look quite amazing so shout to Al to have a ...
Copacabana, Bolivia al-lucy-lost... at the Blue House hostel. At night I found a nearby casino that lets you bet under $2 US per hand at blackjack, still serves free drinks, and lets you ease out of a ****** hand with a slide of the finger and the dealer will give you half your bet back. Pretty good deal. I won my days expenses back before retiring for the night. We hopped a 16hr night bus to Arequipa on more crazy twisting roads through the endless desert and ...
Copacabana, Bolivia, Bolivia destin8ion... who knew they had an air force??) appeared to have physical disabilities. I know Bolivia hasn't been involved in a major armed conflict since 1935, so what's up? They appeared to be congenital problems, but I really couldn't tell through the uniforms. ?¿?¿

So, I finally arrived at Lake Titicaca on Saturday morning.
