Fire, Fire, Fire...... again & again.
Wooden structures close together and open cook fires (and other causes) equal disaster. Again and again most towns we have visited have been leveled by fires and yet they have been rebuilt. This is the first town/city that we have visited on our voyage. Alesund is situated on a peninsula and thus its growth it limited. It did, however, continue to rebuild after every tragedy.
