Bolivia - Copacabana (Lake Titicaca)

A travel blog entry by mattcoopers on Aug 04, 2014

... outfits)", was due to re open that day. I was really keen to do it. Especially, while I was still drunk & coked up. Sam&Nat just wanted to get on the first bus, so I agreed that they leave, and I will meet them in Copacabana. I raced up the street to the urban rush building, puffing heavy as the altitude was a killer. I arrive at the hotel, to find that it still is under construction. What a ****!!! We had called a few days before, and were ...

We had a lovely relaxed morning with a lie-in, nice breakfast of bread, jam, eggs, juice and coffee before getting a collective to the border with Bolivia which was about 2hrs away. It has a Virgin Mary temple and the sunset view from this ...

Strangely one of the lads I'd been out with the night before had the exact same idea and we travelled up to Lake Titicaca together. We arrived at 6pm and having now been up for c.40hours, we found some amazing Mexican food and were in bed before 10. Up early next day, we went to book our trip to Isla del Sol, an island on the lake where the Incas believed the sun originated. The boat left at 1.30 and an hour and a half of horrendous petrol smell and particularly slow movement ...

... we booked into Hostal Olas and la Cupela which were both stunning and for $50 a night were worth the splurge! Both places are owned by the same bloke. Hostal Olas has 7 individual funky guesthouses which are all very different. They are equipped with outdoor hammocks and inside fires. Ours had a floor to ceiling glass wall overlooking the lake and our suite in La Cupela even had a spa bath in the bedroom - ...
