      ... everyone does it - even locals. They just plunk their change in their hands and let the cashier do the work.

      I don’t care if it’s oddly child-like to hold your hand out and have them count it for you. I like it. I have to say, I am grateful for all Croatian cashiers and their counting abilities. And collectively, we’ve embraced the change of change.

      ... time with a huge Croatian man who had run up as part of his training for the New York marathon. He was very intense but quite harmless.       ... every available space. The sand isn't really sand, it is small white pebbles and the water is as clear as the water in Jervis Bay back home. The beaches aren't very wide but are very pretty. The walk into the centre was a bit dangerous at times as the roads aren't that wide and there weren't really any footpaths to speak of but we thought the drivers were very considerate and understanding.
