I kid you not, there are chapels, a ballroom, a souvenir hall, a restaurant and a sound & light show over the saline lake. ... feels more like eastern Europe than Budapest did. The buildings are a bit older and grimier, the streets are lined with 24 hour alcohol shops and the wealth that one would find in France and Germany is certaily not present. What the people lack in disposable income however, they more than make up for in consonants, making Polish a very difficult language to master, despite the fact that some of it is similar to Russian.

Much of Poland also pleasantly surprised ...

Today we took a private tour with Tomasc Cebulski, a scholar on the Holocaust at Jagellionian University here in Krakow. We had a very illuminating experience, hard of course, but he has so much knowledge about the different aspects of the camps, history and time-lines---it was a history lover's dream. ... wanting so we walked around some shops with our luggage for a while. After a while we decided it was time to go to the station. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and then got on our train around 1:30pm to Wroclaw.

It was supposed to be a 5 hour train ride, but again, the Polish trains are really slow and have their own schedule. If one train is slow and off schedule then they all have to wait. So we ended up getting to Wroclaw after 7pm, but we were so happy when we finally made ...

... this would have been a church he knew, and found the cemetary and Bob and I spent about an hour walking through , trying to spot the last names on the gravestones, It was a slow, sad, rainy business. The kids stayed in the car, and we gave up without finding anything, There were a large number of stones without any names visible, so perhaps one of these belonged to a great-grandparent, or other relative, but we had no way of knowing,
