        Still unsure...

I'm still unsure on whether I liked this hostel. Stella is great, very friendly, helpful and informative. We had booked a 7 bed dorm room with a fan (not realising) when we went in the room it was unbearably hot, I felt like I couldn't breathe and the fan just blows hot air on your face. The beds were rock hard, I got a bad back. The shower and toilet were good though. Builders started work right outside the window at 7am and there is loud speaking over a tannoy all day, we got no sleep.
The next day we moved into a 4 bed dorm with aircon, much better. the bed was more comfy, it was cool, the bathroom was big and it was less noisy. The only real complaints I would make are that the reception closed about 9:30-10pm and there is no where to sit and socialise, yes there is a rooftop but it has 4 chairs.. This space could be utilised with big cushions and a small bar. We had a phone call from Stella one night at 12:30am telling us to go back to our rooms and go to sleep, this is a hostel not a hotel and if we had somewhere to socialise we wouldn't all need to cram in one room. However, the location is quite central in the old city, you can walk to the temples, the wifi is ok and here are computers you can use.

Guest House was very reasonably priced, great at organising tours and very clean. Quiet if you were a lone traveler though. I would recommend this place to travelers, no problem.

Green Tulip House is the best place I've stayed so far on my world trip. Clean, spacious, pretty and comfortable, the hostel is more like a hotel, and the staff are absolutely wonderful. For Nine and Stella, nothing is too much trouble and it's clear they really want to help their guests have the best time whilst in Chiang Mai. The amazing low price is the icing on the cake. Thanks Green Tulip!

        Finally home

After such a long trip and so many mix ups it felt like quite a moment arriving in this beautiful city. The green hills and sweet Thai faces quickly washed away the contempt I felt for HK. Its like I'm home, back to fetch my heart right where I left it two years ago. It has such a relaxing quality to it, sitting on the corner with a coffee, …

First day in Thailand and we've arrived at The Green Tulip Hostel in Chiang Mai, straight off the 14hr sleeper train from Bangkok. Recommended to us by previous visitors and owned by a very nice and welcoming family, The Green Tulip is a perfect little initial travellers lodge. A colourful building, reasonably priced and clearly aimed at the …

        Day 51 - 27th May

We arrived at 7am and tried to get a taxi to our hostel but no one would budge on price of 150 baht. Eventually a red taxi which is like a jeepney, took us for 120 baht. We couldn't check in to Green Tulip until 2pm so we had breakfast and by 8:30am our room was ready and we could go our dorm. There are 7 beds in this …

It was an early start as we had the train at 8.30 and our hotel was nowhere near the train station. We got there for 8 and the whole station stood still and was silenced for the national anthem that played out over the speakers. Of course the train was late but we have started to get used to that now and jus chilled reading our books. We wanted to …
