Having happily written the last entry, your bright spark of a correspondent went up to pay for her internet use, pulling out a 50 zloty note. The owner chuckled as he informed me that Slovakian korunas are not accepted currency. I re-examined the note. Indeed. Not a 'zloty' to my name. Having seen me regularly enough over the years to know that there would be a "next time", he was still smiling kindly when I left, blushing. Currency paranoia now firmly in place. Rest of the week was uneventfu...
Prague, Czech Republic atlanticheHey everyone!!! Sorry for the long wait for this entry! I have been crazy busy what with traveling, and then midterms and papers to write and trips to plan! It has been an insane 3 weeks! But now I am back from Paris and finally have some down time to write about Prague. We left for Prague on Thursday the 23rd in the afternoon. We had to get to Dusseldorf where we had booked two overnight compartments for the 11 people going to Prague. The overnight compartment was a decision made aft...
Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic danajmooneyComing to Prague is the best decision I've made on this trip so far...everyone I talked to was right...it's beyond words. The 16th was a rather dull day...all I did was travel. I booked a flight on EasyJet, which is a European airline that costs much less than most other airlines. The only downside to it is that it typically doesn't fly out of the major airports. So my flight to Prague flew out of Gatwick, which is a ways outside of London and requires a 16 pound rail ticket to get there. Bei...
Prague, Czech Republic davidrapozaReturning to Prague about a year after I was here last has definitely been an...interesting experience. It is amazing how much change the city has undergone in only a year, and from my perspective, most of it has not been positive. Within the world of backpackers, and evidently throughout the rest of the world, the word has got out about how everything in Prague was beautiful, cheap, and still relatively tourist-free. I say WAS because even within a year, there is a HUGE increase in the numbe...
Prague, Czech Republic lauramckennaMonday morning boarded the train headed for Prague. Train change in Munich and Schwandorf and unscheduled change enroute. Last two hours had a very enjoyable conversation with an attractive young Czech girl. She is a pre med student hopeing to enter Med School soon. Main interst neurological research. Born and still lives in a town of about 1500 but goes to school in Prague which she finds far more to her tastes. Likes Latin and Jamaicn music and once taught Latin dance. First two days in Pra...

... Jewish people had to be buried in that cemetary by law. The cemetary also has a monument bearing the names of 80,000 Jews murdered by the Nazis in WWII. When Hitler came to Prague, he wanted to keep the Jewish quarter as a museum..a memory of how he bettered the world by destroying the Jews. Sicko. Inside, there are pictures painted by children in concentration camps. The Nazis forced them to paint happy pictures so Jewish ...
Prague, Czech Republic srb013... poster shop filled with vintage posters and I found one I couldn't live without! We also walked for an hour and a half through the Royal Gardens that turned into a gigantic park where you could see the city. We found a playground and felt like little kids again! At night we went to a little blues bar we found on a side street owned by a woman from Texas. She decided to open the bar after she came to visit Prague. She said she could never leave! We could all see why! CIAO!
Prague, Czech Republic cduffy... myself!) Old Royal Palace, Golden Lane, the Great Tower overlooking Prague, and the Gardens on the Rampart.....absolutely stunning. There was an exhibition of Leonardo DaVinci's drawings/inventions in one of the halls....what an amazing character to have thought of so many different inventions, so many years ahead of his time. The streets of Prague are sensational...it is hard to do justice to the beauty and style of this place with words ...
Prague, Czech Republic justjohn... it better than the pictures and videos that are posted can. On the way back I wrote Czech jokes. OK, so what is called when the government does a census? A Czech list. What would you call a customer of a trampoline store? A bounced Czech. OK, how about if I meet my wife there? Czech mate. After almost getting charged 500 Koruna for having the wrong subway ticket (thank you Alex for saving me there!), we cruised by Prague Castle and, my personal ...
