We traveled to Nagoya to catch the Shinkansen to Kyoto. It took us an hour to travel the first leg of 15 miles. It took us 45 minutes to travel the second leg of 67 miles. Once we arrived, we stashed our luggage in a locker and grabbed a bus to take us to the Kyoto International School. Heidi's school in Springdale is an International Baccalaureate …

With business taken care of we proceeded with the temple - shrine - garden visiting, even though it was raining. Thank goodness it wasn't really cold or windy. For the grounds that we covered, I'll let the picture speak except for the Shogun's palace, where we couldn't take pictures. There was a wide, wrap-around walkway. It was setup so that you …

This came into effect around the same time that people started wearing coloured rubber bands around their wrists to signify that they cared about the environment and world poverty, and that their …

Arrival at Kyoto

It takes some time to get from the Kansai airport to your destination, so by the time Mom and I reached Gojo Guesthouse, we were pretty beat. The only downside was the sketchy …

The guesthouse we are staying at is run by some cool hippie Japanese people. When we arrived, we were shown to our traditional Japanese style room with tatami mats and futons and then …

Very green. Our private room was large. The futons were comfortable and there's free wifi. The hostess is very pretty - a plus.
