Today was raining so we decided on the Hop on Hop off bus for several hours. A great way to see Barcelona. Did not see one stand alone house... all apartment buildings, most of the older buildings only up to 6 floors while there are many new ones much bigger. Lovely tree lined streets and parks. ... the apartment safe and sound. After checking in we decided to go explore La Rambla which was about a half an hour walk from the apartment but it was meant to be the central part of Barcelona so we were keen to see it. Once at La Rambla we started stopping at sights along the way including Placa de Catalunya which was a courtyard that had sculptures and fountains, La boqueria markets and we even walked all the way down to the waterfront.

... side were little stalls, mostly foodie stalls, so we sauntered along on the C&H hunt until we found a suitable looking cheese stall. It had piles of interesting cheeses on it, so we stopped to investigate.
The nice gentleman pointed us towards a local goats cheese, which had a dark grey skin and was trussed up like a crown.
"Lo-kal. Veree gud tsees!"
He handed us slithers and we nodded in complete agreement. It was good.

... not sure if we were on the right route or not. We ended up at another train station and sat there for an hour waiting until every Barcelona bound train passenger for the night got into this new train. Now normally that's just a bump in the road, but not knowing where our hostel was and realizing the city metro won't work past midnight left us unsure of what to do. ... On our way back we walked past the spanish Arc De Triomf, a lot like the Paris one expect smaller and not as cool. Here though we came across our first of many crazy spanish people. We are pretty sure they are high/drunk/ mentally ill or all of the above. They definitely make you feel uncomfortable and make you go different ways to get away from them. It was a full moon so maybe that explains the weird behaviour. This particular chap thought it was funny to shot ...
