We got up at 7.30am to catch the shuttle bus to the airport and left Lauren in bed as her flight was later in the day. We arrived at the airport, checked in then waited for our flight to Sydney, however we found out it was delayed by an hour. We arrived in Sydney at 3pm and got a taxi from the airport to our hostel where our room was a pretty spacious 6 bed dorm. We went for a wander around the area we were staying in (Glebe village) and managed to bump into a few local weirdoes (somehow we s...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia celeeaWe arrived back in New South Wales around 6:30pm and before heading to our hostel 'Village Backpackers' the mini bus driver took us on a short tour around Byron to get ourselves knowing where places are. After faffing around for a bit, we made our way to the famous 'Cheeky Monkeys' bar and restaurant where we had been given VIP passes and free beer after supper, awesome!!! Went to bed relatively early as was too tirwed to be ***** to stay out. However we were given the chance to buy tickets f...

Australia, Australia. Or 'Stralia, as the Aussies say. Having not left New Zealand in over nineteen months, I was excited to finally be in a new country (well, not that new - I've been here before), albeit a close neighbour. I was excited to go to the airport, excited to fly, and excited to arrive, especially with the amazing views of the harbour and the sunset we had on the approach to the airport. Contrary to the hassle I'd got coming to Perth, immigration in Sydney was a breeze. I got the ...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia michelleabIm getting really good at this i caught the right bus to the quey and got the right ferry to the zoo. The ferry bit was well sign posted but the buses are a bit of a mistery. The views from the ferry were amazing and the zoo is just beautiful i wish you could all be here to see it too. First stop the Koalas there so cute i want one im so coming back as a koala in my next life they sleep for 20 hours. I saw the Kangaroos and crocodiles and many other animals the zoo is huge and i was so tired ...

Hostels are funny they are a bit rough round the edges but aslong as there clean and safe that what matters. My last hostel was nice i ...

Sidney, Australia michellemariIt's last day of work for the week today which is nice. I spend my first full day taking telephones Customer Service Style, for the first time in ages. It's fun being shouted at by strangers again I can tell you. When will people realise that teleservicing-monkeys have no power and there is little to no point in shouting at them? One guy bawled his head off at me for 10 minutes before hanging up obviously feeling he had made his point, he'll be glad to know he gave me no details as he was too...

... restaurants etc... at first look it's just a big city. over the next few days i realised that it is like London, but they appear to have corrected many of the weaknesses commonly associated with London. I walked along george street and it took ages. the map wasn't drawn to scale so what i thought was a short walk turned out to be quite long. I went through the beautiful botanical gardens and got my first peek at the harbour bridge which dominates the skyline at the harbour. The ...
