    ... to peg before hoops. All went well. Found the showers and stood under there for what seemed like an eternity. But felt much better washing the roD and sweat off. Wandered out the gate in search of dinner and found a fish and chip shop right over the road.... Bonus.. Barra and chips and salad... Came back to the site for a chin wag with some of the other hoagies and am now in the tent about to go to sleep... So ...

    ... the night in Cairns and review the situation tomorrow. We are at least at our destination for the end of our Australia trip now with our flight to Christchurch in a few days time. The storm is supposed to hit land north of Cooktown (320 km north of Cairns) then rapidly decrease in severity as it continues south bringing strong winds and rain to the coastal regions. In other words, we should be fine but we are keeping a close eye on things.

    We walked to the Cock and Bull Tavern and ordered crocodile and wahoo fish. The crocodile was mild to bland and the wahoo was tough; perhaps they mixed up the order. The pub serving arrangement was interesting. Clients walked to either one of the two counters to order a meal. Once paid for, you received a buzzer which told you when it was ready to be picked up. Then, if you wanted beer, you would walk to another counter to buy it and then carry it back to ...
