Day One Hundred and Seventy Five

A travel blog entry by loganriddick

Today I left Strasbourg for Versailles. The ride was uneventful but we almost got stopped by French traffic control after passing through the tenth toll for the day. Once I arrived in Paris, I scoped out the city and prepared for picking up Ash the next day.

One more day in Paris.

I woke early (duh) and walked over to the nearby laundromat, as it opened at 6:30 (I checked the night before.) By 8:00, it became apparent that it wasn't going to be opening, and I would have to go another day feeling less than fresh. I walked back to the hostel irate, but more than that resolute... I would enjoy …

I woke up grumpy and stumbled out of bed with a plan. I was going to enjoy the heck out of Paris. I was here and had nothing better to do, so I would use it. Another part of the plan was buying a towel, which they did not provide in the hostel. This would allow me to take a shower for the first time without cold water in days.

I woke hung over but strangely in a very good mood and stumbled my way to Waterloo Station, where I was due to catch a Chunnel train to Paris. I proceeded through …

It' …

Worst hostel stay experience. Single tiny shared washroom, significant water damage on wall covered over by plastic sheet. Strong smell of mold in room. Very rude staff. Located within blocks of a red light district.
