It took me awhile but I finally found the random ass hostel I was staying in. The randomness was greatly welcomed and accepted though so all is well. Kumar, this big Somalian guy who ran the place is just off the wall and hard to explain. Met Libby, Meagan, and Beck (all from various places in Australia) and got boxed wine and take out to go sit outside the Colosseum and enjoy. The pickpocketing is especially bad in Rome (and Barcelona). Now I have to sidestep with examples for reason of unde...
Rome, Lazio, Italy ktowers86Right now it's actually a week after this trip, but I'm updating it on this day for record keepings sake. We arrived in Rome around midnight and caught the bus to Termini Station, in Rome's city center. Again, we had no plans on where we would be staying. The original plan was to wander around all night, or to head to a club. But since Eric had some extra money from his birthday, he said it was ok if we got a hotel, since we didn't have to worry so much about our budget. So from Termini Stati...
Rome, Italy marsgrl200last night kiki and i shared a bottle of white wine under the stars infront of the coloseum and stumbled our way home...it was a hot, but good, sleep. we got up this morn at 7am and headed off to st. peters square and vatican city. not many people around, we had free reign of the place. i wanted to see the popes tombs so we observed the basillica for awhile before heading to the basement. the art and history and meaning of it all truly amaze me.the remains of queens, deans, popes, priests, al...
Vatican City, Lazio, Italy parkersistersRome Like - how much there is to see and do in Rome, and that its big enough to not feel like a tourist the whole time. Dislike - the bus system! Its nuts but I think I finally got it towards the end. Do Differently - find another hostel to stay in. Head down to Southern Italy Stayed - Hosteling HI, and Freestyle Hostel. Hosteling HI, was like going back to the school ward. It was the same deal but again the price was right. The metro was not that far away, and really you can walk anywhere in...
Rome, Italy sasullRome is big, hot and busy place. The hostel is tiny and crowded like a sardine can, and only has 2 bathrooms and 3 rooms for 30 people, but it has free dinner and breakfast, which is quite good. It is also a very social place. Adam and Gareth came too, and we met some great people there and had a good time with them. We saw the Trevi Fountain - a magnificent fountain with lots of very huge, expressive sculptures lying about on it. It was so crowded. I hate crowds, they make me cranky. I grew ...

... map from the hostel yet so I didn't really know where I was going. I
got back and had a shower and got changed. I also went on the Internet
and checked emails and updated my blog.
It was now time for dinner. Just across the street was a nice little
Italian restaurant and I was craving pasta. I decided to have a pasta
dish with thicker spagetti noodles and a tomato based sause with
bacon. I ...
... them. If I could explain Prague in one word... I would say CandyLand. The reason I say this is because all of the buildings are different colors. They streets are cobble stone and the river is gorgeous with it's view of the castles and churches. There are a lot of churches in Prague, even though they are not used for worship. We learned that about 80% of Prague's population is atheist. odd? It is a toss up between Prague, New Zealand and ...
Rome, Italy rla83... you're going... it is a must if you're interested in swimming). The pool grounds, overlooking Vienna, are located in hills with vineyards etc. The public pool was very well structured with all the kids in one section, and the adults in the other... made for a pool party atmosphere with no kids. The water, however, was ever so cold and I limited myself to much need sunbathing. I'm a little burnt, added to by today's time in the sun. It cost 5.5 euros to get in ...
Rome, Italy shanewilsonToday was awesome...we slept in and had a nice relaxing day at the beach. It was so nice to finally breathe some fresh air! Living in the city you breathe nothing but smog and smoke. I swear every Italian here smokes. Anyways, we just basically laid around and played in the sand. It was kind of a mini vacation. We are learning more everyday how to get around the city by using all the different million trains and buses. I think we will be ...
Rome, Italy jessica_caywood... Dotted all over the mountains and cliffs, are around a dozen medieval villages, including Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. It was very late in the afternoon by the time we returned to Castelnuovo di Gargagnana, so we decided to head straight back down the valley, following the Fiume Serchio to Lucca. As I mentioned, the traffic is always heavy on this road, and after 5.00pm when all the shops reopened, and the locals came out on pushbikes, it was extremely slow going. Still, the views ...
