So! I got to Ushuaia just fine, although I was still feeling pretty ******. We got to our wonderful hostel and walked around the cute ¨Southernmost City of the World.¨ The town is small, and all overlooks the port where the container ships and Antarctic cruise boats hang out. The first day and night were really chill, even though it was clear that all the youth (ish) of the hostels all go out and party all night. I was brave and slept through the first night of festivities. I woke up the nex...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina annapriesterUpon arrival to Ushuaia, I didn´t know what to expect. All i heard it is known as the "End of the World" or "Fin Del Mundo" in espanol because it is the southern most city in the world. Not sure what categorizes a city versus a town, but i assume it´s an airport. anyways, enough with the geographical jargon, this place is awesome. First of all, i was staying at the premier hostel in South America at the Freestyle Backpackers Hostel. It was really nice and i haven´t had an accomodation like th...
Ushuaia, Argentina aushiroToday was yet another wonderful day in Ushuaia. After meeting with Catherine for breakfast we decided that we would make the trip to Lago Esmerelda or the Emerald Lake. Not sure how we would get there, but we agreed to leave at about 11 or so for the bus station. In the meantime, I was just zoning out at the hostel and the reception dude (really funny guy) comes up to me and says "Where do you go today my friend?" I said "Lago Esmerelda". He then says, "Today is your lucky day cause you can j...
Ushuaia, Argentina aushiroAfter getting up hungover, the day was the most beautiful i've seen in Ushuaia. Chances are I will not venture to this area again, so i fought the hangover and met the English Dans at the bus station to hike to the summit of Tierra Del Fuego. The Dans took a day off before this hike and i decided to go big the night before. Sadly, i didn't prepare for this trip and i only had a bottle of water and some bread i stole from the Hostel breakfast. Rushing to the bus station, I wasn't sure i was go...
Ushuaia, Argentina aushiroOK so we arrived two days ago and have been having a pretty good time. I am going to seperate the entries into two because of the amount of pictures I have. SO we got here and got dropped off on the side of the road, no problem... Got a cab to the hotel/hostel, and were quite surprised by how nice it was, but we were only there for one night because the hostel we wanted was booked online. Woke up in the morn to do checkout at 10, had breakfast, and over breakfast we were talking to the owner ...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina backpackbushuaia is the end of the world, and by god did it feel like it! i wanted to go there, but wasnt sure why, and when i arrived i was there but still didnt know why... i had read that it was the place that you could go to but it was hard to get out, good god that was true... tierra del fuego national park was stunning and driving down there was crazy as you really appreaciated how far away you were from everything, being at the end of the earth, sorry south, etc. there was a real sense of claus...
Ushuaia, Patagonia, Argentina condimentcrouchIts the end of the world as we know it, well so the Argentines think anyway. Ushuaia is at the very bottom of Argentina and is the southernmost city of the world. There is a few small towns south in Chile but the place holds the claim to fame. Arriving at 10pm after 12 hours of bus and ferry rides, numerous border crossing with Chile and Argentina, I meet an Indian backpacker whilst getting my pack from the bottom of the bus. We made our way to the Freestyle hostel, which of course had to be ...
