Fraser Island 4WD Adventure!
Entry Picture Link: http://picasaweb.google.com.au/ThreeVag abonds/MackayToFraserIsland# Fraser Island, the world's largest sand island and the setting of our latest adventure! (http://www.fraserisland.net/) After leaving Hervey Bay, we headed just a few hours south to beautiful Rainbow Beach. Rainbow Beach is a much smaller town than Hervey but …
Big sandy island of 150 KM
Rainbow Beach
After leaving 1770 we thought we would be hitting a big town...we didn't. Rainbow Beach was nearly as bad....things closed at 8pm instead of 7pm!
We had two nights here before our 4x4 adventure to Fraser Island, where I was nominated driver! ha!
Question: Western versus Developing Countries
Pascale asked a really good question that has been stirring within me for a few weeks, so I thought I would put it out there: You seem to be having fun in Australia. I suppose it is easier to travel there in comparison to South East Asia. But what do you like best? The comfort of travelling in a developped country or the exotism? Just wondering... …
Brisbane, Noosa, Rainbow Beach and Fraser!
Well another week has flown by! I've been to a few places this week...had a very quick stop in Brisbane, was there less than 12 hours, and being a Sunday night nothing was open! But I have to fly back to Brisbane to go to Fiji, so will hopefully see more next time! On Monday I got the bus to Noosa which was a lovely little place. It was quite …

TravelPod Member ReviewsFrasers On Rainbow Beach
We were happy to stay here, even though it was longer than anticipated. Although most people come here to go to Fraser Island, when we were stuck here because of the recent cyclone the staff went out of their way to take good care of us. All in all an excellent stay.

We stayed in this hostel in April 2012, one night either side of our Fraser Island trip. The staff were really helpful when we checked in and allowed us to get into our room early. The room that we got, though was not great. No carpet and pretty shabby all round. We managed because it was only for the one night.
When we got back from Fraser we were given a slightly better room (there was carpet!). Overall, Frasers on Rainbow is ok, but I wasn't wowed!

We stayed two nights at this hostel, preparing for our trip to Fraser Island. The private rooms are pretty run-down with simple bunk beds. What is nice is the balcony, yet the comfort of using it is reduced by the constant loud music that is on throughout the hostel till late at night. Wouldn't recommend staying here if you are looking for a comfortable stay.
