... The highlight of Singapore had to be the Marina Bay where our hotel was located. There are many beautiful modern buildings, sky scrapers and very artistic architectural structures. The skyline is beautiful in all directions. And the dominating building is the Sands Marina Bay Hotel -which is a large hotel, shopping mall, and casino in the same complex. Soon a smooth voice announced the Garden Rhapsody light show would begin soon. Daphne and I got settled and then the trees came alive. Laser projections cast dancers, drummers, birds and the SG50 symbol on the trunks of the largest supertree. Light pulsed in all the trees and flicked through their canopies. ... magazine describes them as the most economical plane flying. We cruise at 35,000 feet for twelve hours. The cabin staff simulate night for the latter half, dimming the cabin, but with body clocks saying 'afternoon', sleep is minimal.

August 9th and is getting ready with hundreds of school kids practicing their parade whilst the military closed off a street to practice turning the huge guns in the same direction at the same time whilst the military planes just kept coming in formation - and this is just a practiced drill for the main event - it should be spectacular.

So first stop must be for a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar - it's a fruity cocktail for $35 ...
