And so... the end is near...

... The highlight of the night was talking to them about Gossip Girl. I asked what season they were watching in Spain or what had happened in the most recent episode. The girl kept saying, "Well Dan Humphrey and Vanessa are talking to Hillary Duff..." In return I kept saying, "Hillary Duff? No, I don't think she's been on Gossip Girl." We were going round and round, "Hillary Duff?" "Yeah, I think Hillary Duff." "Blonde hair?" "Yeah, I think that's her name." "So, Hillary ...

Juicy Valencia Oranges

... Even the train station was decorative in this way. I constantly stopped to snap pictures of random buildings.
The only thing not so appealing is that only the center of the city is beautiful the outside looks like a rundown modern area. In the center you have all the old cathedrals, a marvelous common marketplace open every day selling fresh fruits and vegetables and on sunday outside there are many tables selling cheap clothes and other random ...

Not much to say

This town was really in the middle of nowhere. There was a huge windstorm and the town was super dead, except for a bunch of seniors at the bar down by the beach. We hung out there to use their internet and to watch an episode of Frasier in english. Not our most exciting day. We tried to rent mountain bikes at our resort but they had put them away for the winter... it was like 20 degrees out!

The days of ¨if¨

... parties, all of the last days of work, and closing of the offices, everything, is on a constantly shifting time schedule. Instead of a ¨last day¨ everything is set up on an ¨x-number of hours after races end¨ bases. For example, instead of closing the cafeteria on say Thursday, it will close 24 hours after the last race, whenever that may be. Can you imagine trying to prepare meals for hundreds of people on a ...

Things are getting interesting...

... and the revelry of San Juan, Valencia needed to take a deep, slow breath this morning. I found pleasure in witnessing it. This is a link to one of the postcards I put up this week about the mood around the port: http://www.americascup.com/en/acmag/pos tcards/index.php I must say that over the last 3 and a half months the Port has been pretty barren, too big for its own good, and this gave it a bit of a sad feeling. Over ...

Moving on in a whole different direction

... because at the time I considered it a weakness rather than a strength, now, I'm torn. And in this case I believe I will don my ¨idealist¨ badge. Ever a fan of the prospect of a happy medium, I believe one exists here. While working at the America's Cup I have found myself wanting to know why all of these people with their stupid amounts of money aren't spreading it around a bit. I realize it is mostly for the simple reason that they don't want to. But I ...

Turning Points

... my metro stop sprawled with all the same ¨damn the man¨ messages in permanent marker and smashed ticket box, I had worked myself into an absolute panic. And it wasn't because I finally realized I have walked though this...well...slum... enough times for it to feel like home. (Don't worry mom and dad, I don't make this walk after dark and the metro carries me far from this ...

It is funny - I always wanted to go to Teruel...because I read a Entry about that place here at the travelpod...somebody went there and it looks kinda neat... That's what I experienced also - this city of Teruel is very different to all the other Spanish cities...it gives you an mediaeval impression...if you look at the pics you'll see - it's quite different here. I think it is ...

ARAGON

This community, bordering on France with the Pyrenees, is of particular interest for its outstanding mountainous landscapes with several natural preserves.

Built on high ground in the south of Aragon, Teruel preserves an important medieval legacy in its historic centre. Most notable are the city's great Mudejar style monuments, consequence of a long Moorish dominance. Highlights ...
