    ... really nice hearing and seeing the sea. Catherine and Andreas had heat stroke from the sun unfortunately so it was an early night.
    The next day we ventured to Yalong Bay - the plush, resort-y area of Sanya, where all the rich people go, along with two guys from our hostel. The taxi dropped us off at the touristy area and it was really busy, which we didn't like... so we walked further along the road and decided to try our luck at getting onto a private beach. ...

    ... so it seemed like a localised problem. It was nearly out flight so we went airside and say by the gate where we found out that it had been delayed. We discussed contingency plans in case it was delayed a long time and then there was an announcement in Chinese over the tannoy. On investigation we discovered that the airline was paying for a hotel for us and with a mixture of Chinese, broken English and mine we deduced that the best thing to do was to follow everyone else... ...

    ... in all I do have to say I LOVE China, although much of the country is governed by such strict rules (no eating, no kissing, no breathing…) it works for the people and by god they are SO tidy and SO efficient!
