Getting up at 2.30am to get first to the airport bus stop, take the bus and then get to the airport for a 6.00am flight really has knobs on it but when you fly Ryanair for the cheap prices you have to take what you can get! We arrived in Edinburgh, caught the airport bus in and walked to our hostel all before 9.00am. The bad news was we couldn't have our room until 3pm but were able to leave our packs and went out to see the castle and various other Edinburgh attractions. The following day we...
Scotland, United Kingdom heatheravanGot in late to Endinburgh but there was still lots of people around and luckily a few takeaways still open as we were starving!! Such a spectacular skyline as you come into the city!! It is a very visually impressive place to visit... Had to walk up a massive flight of stairs to get to the old town where our hostel was - good to keep things moving for the upcoming cycling I suppose!! There are Aussies everywhere here!! All the staff in our hostel were Aussies (this is how we found out the ori...

We are visiting the UK and Norway at the end of May and first part of June in 2010. I have never been to Europe and am very excited about it.
Our daughter has been attending Kingston University this past year so we are going to see her, travel and pack her up to come home. We have family in Stavanger so we don't need hotels and ...
312 miles - set off at some un-Godly hour to drive from Chesterfield to Fife, Scotland to watch football! Trish likes the journeys but thinks the idea is crazy. Anyway, we are here now! Prior to the match we walked around the town - NOT Scotland's biggest attraction. Anyway, 2:30pm and I arrive at the ground ready for the match. One stand is fairly ...
Methhill, Scotland, United Kingdom chrisontour... itself was such a shock. It was like a combination of London and Vienna. Such gorgeous old buildings, I couldn't wait to explore..
..Meet up with some of my friend's mates in the station, aaaand then we end up in the St. James shopping mall thingy for an hour and a half. Now unlike most teenage girls - I. Hate. Shopping. Well at least just going around staring at clothes. Seriously, what is the point? My adventure ...
... us to the airport. We went on an airline similar to Jetstar... they called us all up, then left us standing in line for about half an hour before we boarded. I think someone had cabin luggage which should have gone in with the other luggage or something.... anyway... when we got to Stanstead we walked the length of the airport to the Bus Terminal where we had a wonderfully comfortable hour-long trip back to Cambridge...... then ... we ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom pollies... like we have taken a step into the past with all of the Georgian period buildings and most even older then that. But also, check out the key to our room, crazy! Each room is named after a Scotland legend and our room is a tribute to Robert Louis Stevenson. We have learned so much about him staying here.
We walked the Royal Mile today and took a tour of Edinburgh Castle. We have uploaded some pictures of our journey today and a video on the top of the castle.
... living in Edinburg, so he didn't have the cool Scottish accent (Craig Fergussen anyone?), but he was a great guide and knew a lot. We learned about all kinds of great stories... For example, there's a picture of me spitting on a heart. It is where the tax collectors booth used to be, and people used to spit on the door... so when that disappeared they put it in the sidewalk, and people still spit in the center. Tourists walk THROUGH the spit (or, in the case of one ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom alina-beth... with 1 guy doing all the characters in the original trilogy in about an hour... hysterical. And he says next year he hopes to do One Man Lord of the Rings! We haven't done too much sightseeing just yet, but as we do we'll post pictures and update you on our life... Its cold here by the way... the other night as I walked home in the mist, it was around 40F!
Edinburgh, United Kingdom jasonncaryn... to dinner with our office and several members of the Westminster SNP Press and Research staff for an Intern Bash. I am looking forward to dinner, but not to saying goodbye to friends that have been like family to me these past few months. Hopefully our paths will cross again. For now, I will just have to keep in touch. Grammy will be back from her tour of the Scottish Highlands on Friday evening. She is so friendly and personable I have no doubts she will make ...
