Puerto Madero Buqubus Ferry

ATM INSURANCE – BUQUEBUS FERRY – PUERTO MADERO –SUNNY – 28.10.09

My brother Lou, Lynn and I went to Puerto Madero, the harbor, to book our 3 hour ferry trip with Buquebus MVDO Eladia Isabel to Uruguay for the next day, Thursday 29th October, the month seems to be flying by. On the way to the dock, we saw the 'Stad Amsterdam' sailing ship which was open for viewing. The Dutch crew spoke good English and were very forthcoming ...

... of us went to the restaurant at about 10 and managed to bag the last table.. The girls turned up later apparently there had been less speed and less dating but they seemed to have had a good laugh anyway..

The restaurant is famous for great cheap food (according to Time Out BA) and for 32 pesos you got a massive steak and for ...

New house, New area - Welcome to Palermo

Well after the swine flu incident I wasn`t going to return to my last place. No way. So I arrange a new place through school again. This one recommended by my friend Alex as the place he had previously stayed. It gets a little cold at night he added as a throw away comment....

Wow, it was super cold some days and nights! But luckily I had a heater... that heated to about 1 foot in front ...

17 hours bus journey to BA

... and salad - our first taste of the infamous Argentine beef and it was very tasty and that was cooked for 20 odd people so we could only imagine what it would be like in a restaurant. After 12 we walked a few blocks to a nearby milogna. It was basically a room like a dance hall and all the tables were in a circle around the dance floor and all the locals were showing us how it should be done. Only then did I notice quite alot of the couples ...

... kept everything really simple but basically taught us to lead or be led and to be able to improvise our own steps. After an hour or so we all went for pizza which was sorely needed (we were starving it was like 10:30 at this point!!). And then the real fun began as we hit the final destination of the evening, a real Milonga club (that's where people go to dance tango). There were quite a few Argentinian couples doing their thing, but we weren't shy ...

Back at Starting Point!

... for SAE seems worth it for my storage. I checked back into Sandanzas, and found that Debbie and her friend, Cheryl, was reserved for the next 4 nights. So, since I had walked all over el centro, probably about 7-8 miles, I showered, and laid down to read the BsAs Herald, an English-written newspaper. And, shortly, in came Debbie and Cheryl. So, we gathered ourselves together, and went out to eat right down the street. And ...

Football.... Argentinian Style!

... of our trip and our savings... .I know this and am embracing it, but look forward to the day when we can splurge and have a big chicken and vegies! Yesterday was a busy day here in BA. We´d heard that the San Telmo antiques markets on Sundays were not to be missed so we wandered up there at about ten and discovered a fantastic little plaza (square) with heaps of vendors displaying their antiques and jewelery. Mind you some of it was ...

Disappointing dinner

... than candy sprinkles! I settled up my bar tab with the hostel - three small beers and two 1 L bottles only came out to 32 pesos, about $11 CAD. It doesn't get much cheaper than that! Shortly after, a shuttle came to pick us up, and after a few minutes of driving, a Scottish guy asked us "Does this go to the airport?" The Spaniard and I looked at each other in a slight moment of panic, and both commented that we were positive it ...

back in BsAs... que triste!

... cheap beer (which, actually, isn't that much more difficult), and no public transportation. I have spent the past week camping with dear friends, most of which i have left behind and will probably not ever see again (although hope will always exist for Carlos, Fabio, Priscilla and Liza)... i spent new years on top of a mountain in el bolson, and witnessed stars like i have never seen before in my life. I have ushered in the new year by diving into ...
