    ... as she was with dripping (no spin dryer either) washing. It was a brilliant drying day, good breeze and hot sun, so it wasn’t long at all until at least some of the washing, was dry and put away.

    ... there were no restaurants, shops or indeed anything much here. Instead, we had crab pâté and small gherkins on crackers as canapés with a bottle of chilled Latvian 'champagne’ followed by roast pork with vegetables and we were too full for a pudding, apart from a small whisky and some chocolate with our coffees.
