Stayed here for a day and night...what is the story with the weather here....it hasn't been this hot and humid since Suva in Fiji....it's swealtering. We had a flight from Singapore to Darwin and back to 20 Kg weight limit thankfully! We got into Darwin at something like 5 in the morning and had to make our way through customs which took about an hour. No problems though so you won't see us on Border Control!! We had to sleep in the airport for a few hours because the shuttle wasn't running yet and our hostel wouldn't open anyway. Took one of the worlds great train journeys on "The Ghan" as we travelled the 1600kms from Alice to Darwin. We got a great deal in the Red Kangaroo class (which basically means a nice comfy reclining seat) for the 2 day journey. Lots of buffet cars and winding passageways...very cool journey with an average speed of 85kms an hr. Darwin was hot and humid compared with the west coast. The airport shuttle bus dropped us off at our hostel around lunch time. After an early start and the new heat we were more tired than hungry so we had an hour's siesta on our bunks in our wonderfully air conditioned twin room.
