Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia brianf_81... a maze of giant eroded domes, it felt like we were in the “lost city”.

Moving on again to Macdonnel Ranges via the Larapinta Trail. 1st stop was Simpson's Gap, where we got to see some black footed rock wallabies in the jumble of rocks on either side of the gap. Next stop was Standley Chasm . This is a very narrow chasm sliced neatly through the rock and is surrounded by tall cliffs. We scrambled up big boulders and loose rocks to look down ...
Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia waynenwendy... pas informé !

He lost about 10kg when he had the arthritic illness and due to our heathy eating (hot weather salads) has not put it on again. He now needs a new hole in his belt!!
We expect to be back in Adelaide this coming weekend ie by the 7th.
Cheers
W+D

Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia wendydean... Then it was time for another night under a canopy of stars. The next morning or rather in the middle of the night at about 4.30 we headed to Ulu Ru again to watch the sunrise. Damn, can it be cold in the desert but all worth for the beautiful spectacle. Next on the agenda was a base walk around the Rock. From far away Ulu Ru looks like one big dome rising out of the earth but up close one can see how the base is scalloped. Some areas of the Rock ...

Turns out their French behinds did speak English after all. Such a lovely couple.

The Ghan journey is one of those that is definitely worthwhile and cool one time and one time only just to get a perspective on how vast the Outback is. But at the same time I was glad after a day and a half to kiss The Ghan and that French couple traveling on to Adelaide ...

Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia javavan... difficult from a social point of view because unlike TI there were very little new staff and so nobody in the same boat as me. The highlight was definitely the cheesecake one of the doctors bought me on my last day!!

Next I flew to Darwin which is the capital of the Northern Territory - state number 6! There wasn’t a huge amount to do but it was nice to be away from the East coast and somewhere a bit more authentic, if you know what I mean. Visited the ...

This is the last tourist attraction before home, and it was a good one.

Now I must descent this unmarked hill and walk through empty land until the town centre. It has been much fun in Alice Springs and the Outback!
