Punta del Diablo @ El Diablo Tranquilo

A travel blog entry by spikidle

Punta Del Diablo is a small town that over summer more than 30,000 people descend on. Lucky for us it is not summer and while it was too cold to go swimming, well for us, we found it a more than pleasant place to relax.

Our stay:
I can not say we really got up to all that much, we had hoped it might be slightly warmer so …

Seaside relaxation

A travel blog entry by brett_and_fi

As the weather appeared to be turning even more dreadful in Florianopolis we decided to move on and spend a day and night traveling to our next destination, Punta del Diablo, Uruguay.
We arrived at 6am 5kms from our hostel, seemingly in the middle of nowhere. It was an hour and a half walk along sand and dirt roads, backpacks and all, but it …

Paradise found!

A travel blog entry by intrepidfred

While Cabo Polonio is the most special place I've visited so far, Punta del Diablo is my favorite. We found the place thanks to a pair of Swedish girls who spoke lovingly of a tiny beach paradise where they'd spent two weeks doing absolutely nothing.

As I said, it didn't have quite the uniqueness or magic of Cabo Polonio, but it did have …

Beach walk

A travel blog entry by vogels-viajando

The weather forecast had announced some rain starting about 10 am. Tough for us but we took off and started exactly when it was starting to drizzle. We left the rain behind us, ignored every beach sign and reached the small town San Jose del Norte before the rain. But we couldn't find the ferry or someone who could tell where and when the ferry …

Am Strand mit viel Regen ...

A travel blog entry by moeller

Loved my stay here...it hits you when you arrive that it is cold (it is winter) but you soon forget that when you get settled in. Always a nice fire in the living room and plenty of blankets in the dorms. One dorm was a bit damp but beds are cosy and lockers for everyone. Girls and boys bathrooms are clean and nice, good powerful showers and loads of hot water. Deck out the back was lovely to chill out on- hammocks/chairs for lots of relax time. Breakfast is one of the better ones had recently. Staff are really helpful at sorting activities (recommend horse riding with fabio) and getting you organised with buses. They also cook dinner in the evening which you can opt in on for a reasonable price. There is also a well equipped kitchen if you wanted to cook yourself. Hostel caters for everyone but would particularly recommend if you are seeking a friendly hostel with a nice cosy communal feeling.

The best hostel we stayed at in Argentina or Uruguay. Great staff, great people at the hostel, the private rooms are beautiful, the food at the restaurant is fantastic, horseback riding with Fabian was wonderful (healthy, well cared for horses), clean and great. Thank you for a great stay!!!!

Best place to stay in Punta del Diablo. They have two Hostels, one on the beach with a restaurant and the other just behind, with a kitching to cook! Both are great!

We were only there for one night and had booked a 3-bed private room. Everything was great, nice people (with a certain backpacker/surfer vibe, obviously, that not everybody might enjoy) and clean rooms & bathroom facilities. Really friendly staff, plus the food at the restaurant located at El Diablo Tranquilo Suites (a bit more pricey, closer to the beach) was the best I had in Uruguay so far. Thank you for everything!
