Volunteering in Ecuador, 2. contribution

... is, if you know how to negotiate. As we only had two hours there before all the students, Maria, Emily and I were to go to a restaurant and then on to other sites, I decided only to buy something I’ve wanted for a long time, the pan flute, and then to come back to the market on a later occasion to spend some proper time there. The rest of the day we went to a waterfall, to a music shop to see how they make the commercial instruments and to one of the many big lakes that ...

Quito

... I thought that you´d be able to try out some of the ´wierd things that happen on the equator´, like water going down the drain anticlockwise etc but we couldn´t. The museum where you get to do all that stuff was closed. They did have a weighing machine there and apparently you´re supposed to weigh less on the equator then you do anywhere else, something to do with the earth´s axis (??). One of the guys tried it though and he ...

Quito - Not what I expected

... built an eco lodge there. For $25USD a night (steep for Ecuador) you get a room, all meals and free use of mountain bikes and some other things. Will be good to get out to some remote areas and just kick back for a day or two, ride a bike and get some Andean air!

Footnote: Nearly tossed the blogs in. Probably some things you shouldnt write about when your parents are reading these things, but in the end I think things will be ok. As I said, if your in India you eat curry ...

... meat since we have been here :) More than I would have liked to report but we are getting used to it. The family is great...conversations are still lacking at times from our lack of spanish skills but I think they will increase fast with these classes. The school is great too. The professor is funny and super nice. Overall, all is good so far. We are adapting and settling in fairly well so far.

Miss you and report more soon.
-Adios

Welcome to Quito: Gimme all your F*in money

The old town is filled with colonial arctecture and has some intersting churches, shops, plazas and parks. The new town has more of ...
