Excellent location, it is near the Royal Mile. Friendly staff and they have a good deal with the restaurant next door. I stayed in the 'penthouse' which was a nice, big room and a comfortable bed.
The only thing I did not like where the showers. A lot of showers in a row with just a shower curtain for your privacy. But maybe I am a prude.

        Stay somewhere else

This place is filthy, also very expensive. Have travelled to a lot of Hostels around the world now and this was one of the worst experiences I have. Basically just a big money making machine (charge for everything!). Only thing going for it is location but there's so many places around time you are better off staying somewhere else.

The train ride from King's Cross Station, only a 10 minute walk from my dorm, to Edinburgh Waverly Station was beautiful. It was exactly what you would expect from the English countryside, but once we crossed the border over to Scotland, it was sheep-galore, old stone houses, views of the ocean, and even the occasional golf course. It was an …

... had soup, fish and chips, and homemade ice-cream. But, after this weekend, I can say that I enjoy the healthy Italian lifestyle of pasta and vegetable as opposed to grease and fried things like in Scotland. We were pretty much done with the city of Glasgow after our morning there, so headed a little early to Edinburgh, where we were going to be staying for the next 2 nights. After taking a train (which was SO nice) through the Scottish countryside, green fields ...
