A hostel which has everything you NEED, but not everything you WANT; it felt very impersonal and un-homely.

Looks like a dive from the outside but not bad on the inside. Not enough bathrooms for the amount of people staying there tho. Huge kitchen with the need of more storage areas for food. Huge tv room with lots of couches for hanging out and chilling to a movie. Turned out better than imagined.

Pour à peine plus cher que la chambre partagée au Base on avait une chambre individuelle avec salle de bain, pile en face de la gare et à 10 min de marche du centre "vivant"
Vraiment très contente d'y avoir passé 4 jours

Downtown backpackers was a decent place to stay for the night. I would have stayed at the YHA, but my ferry arrived after midnight from Picton and the hostel is located across the street from the blue bridge ferry terminal. The evening guy at the hostel was really nice as opposed to the girl at the reception the next morning. She was rude and super unfriendly...maybe she was hungover or woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Not a very good representation. The place was clean and i would recommend it for a one nighter.

This was our day to explore Wellington, the seat of government as well as the unofficial cultural centre of the country.

Right after breakfast, we took a walking tour with Auto who got us oriented in the city. He gave us suggestions of things to do and then we went our separate ways. We saw the "Beehive" which is part of the Parliament …
