London

A travel blog entry by doshaughnessy

This weekend I went to London for a magical event called the booze cruise. This event is a gathering of ND study abroad folks from Dublin, London, and Spain, to party on a boat on the River Thames. I got in to London on Thursday night but it took us too long to get to our hostel to actually do anything that night. I experienced the tube, thought, …

London - Love at first sight

Best days of my life, nothing else can I say. I wouldn't be able to find such paper which could hold that much information I could give about my impression in connection with London. It has changed my life... , or it will, at least. :P

So today was our first official day in another country! We arrived at Gatiwck London around 9:40 am. I know that because the entire plane ride i mapped the route and our time to beat was 9:35 but I guess we slowed down at the end. We had to wait in the rediculously long "Non-EU" customs line and when all was said and done the customs lady made fun …

Commemorating the end of my time in Dover Castle (for now), I thought I'd complile a little list of memorable moments:

1. The first time I entered the room, saying a cheery "hello" and receiving (at best!) grunts from other guests in the room. Thinking that one of those was the most openly hostile person I had ever met when some poor soul …

Today, we started by checking out of our hostel in Hammersmith and taking the tube to Dover to our new hostel, Dover Castle. We checked in, left our bags and went back to the train system and went to the London Bridge station. We walked around town and saw The Globe, where Shakespeare's plays were shown. Then, we walked across the Thames River and …

Actually, I only have positive feedback. The hostel is exclusively for those students or student-like visitors who intend to stay for a couple of days. Breakfast is included which is usually toast with butter and jam, you can drink juice, coffee, or tea. I recommend that everyone who wants to stay there have an electric socket because they don't have much. Be prepared for unstable beds.
