Day Eighty: Animal Magic

A travel blog entry by emmahannahmilla

It's not every day you get to cuddle a koala. Australia Zoo is one of the East Coast's most visited attractions. And with good reason. Boasting 100 acres of glorious rolling landscapes home to over 1000 animals, Australia Zoo is a team of compassionate conservationists working around-the-clock to deliver an animal experience like no other. …

  • Another recommended place along with Fraser Island was Noosa. I had read in Lonely Planet that Noosa had a National Park, so combined with that I decided to check it out.
I didn't like the hostel I stayed in, it was so up its own bum as were many of the people, including the staff who just though they were soooo cool. The first …

Ah, back to an ocean I can swim in!

So I left the Whitsundays on Thursday bound back south down the coast for Noosa. After a very long day of flying, shuttle-ing, waiting for a bus forEVER and then figuring out how to take the city bus in the very confusing town of Noosa, I was beat. I was on my own now and it meant late-night strolls were a bit more daunting but I couldn't just sit …

Noosa is where we first got our bad weather in Australia. It rained and was colder than what we have come accustomed to. The rain changed our plans of surfing and relaxing on the beach which was a shame as our hostel hired out the boards for free.
The 1st day we arrived in the late afternoon on a Sunday so not alot was open. We got the bus …

The quietest hostel we've been in, a perfect opportunity to relax after being on the go all the time. Evenings were spent relaxing or taking advantage of the free pool or wifi!
Apartment style dorms offered comfortable living and free shuttle buses to the shops or the beach every hour.

A shame the wifi was only in the communal area but other than that everything was great.

    VERY BASIC ACCOMMODATION

We stayed in one of the apartments. It was really, really basic but clean. I think it was very overpriced for what it was. Good location.

    Great value for money

We got a private apartment round the back of the hostel which was huge! Very clean, incredibly well equipped, quiet and brilliant value for money.

We hired a car and without that getting around and into Noosa town would have been difficult.

Location is close to Sunshine beach, which is a plus. The hostel offer free rides into town center and bus station. The hostel itself is somewhat run down (for upscale place like Noosa), and not very clean. If this hostel is in Cairns I would understand, but this is Noosa, gotta expect better. Many people are "working there" and long term stays. So, you get the idea ....
