Some beach time and detox

Before coming back to Australia, an Australian had recommended that I go to Noosa for some beach action and while I was walking along a street in Brisbane with my pack on another backpacker recommended the Dolphins beach house. Sorted! I stayed in a small beach town where there were no bars, a convenience store and a couple of restaurants and of course the beach. The beach was bueatiful. This is the quiet side of Noosa where the beach was so quiet, miles of some sand with big crashing waves. ...

Meeting old friends

Ok, so I am slightly behind with this travel pod, seeing as I was in Noosa 3 weeks a go now, but better late than never, I say. Noosa, has stuck in my mind, however, it is beautiful, right on the sunshine coast, spread over about 3 beautiful beaches and surrounded by national parks. Gem and I spent 2 nights here, the first night I met up with a friend from Oxford, Claire (AKA Mini), and her travel companions and we all went out for some drinks and a great boogie. It was so great, if a little ...

Noosa Heads

Noosa was the next stop along the coast. We landed with a bang when the falcon decided to splutter for about 5 mins after we had turned it off and then smoke start coming from the engine, we think it may be on its last legs! Noosa was a pretty relaxed place. Its where all the wealthy Sydney and Melbourne families head for a few days by the beach. We stayed in a lovely hostel called Dolphins which was way more personal than any of the other places we have been so far. We only had to share a ki...

Noosa and sunshine coast

Right, Noosa. Thankfully there are photos to go with this place...cos it's great! Took Greyhound bus from Brisbane which took around two hours. We were picked up from the bus station by the hostel owner in his mini bus. There were a good few of us lined up for a lift and talk about squashing us all in - he managed it though. Noosa is a small town on a penninsula seperated by a National Park. The Hostel was located on far side of the park from where we got off Greyhound; the Sunshine Beach sid...

Noosa – Wednesday 7th to Sunday 11th October
I didn’t get to fully appreciate Noosa, having arrived late afternoon on the Wednesday, and headed off for a two day canoeing trip the following morning. When I returned on Saturday, I walked around the main beach near the town centre and around the shops to get a feel for the town, but missed out on a few of the main attractions. In the evening, I went to the pub with a Dutch guy to watch a boring 0-0 with Australia and Holland, and...

It's a bit looser in Noosa

As this is our 36th day away, we are now, chronologically, 10% through our trip. I always find that journeys of any duration have this interesting contradiction. On one hand it feels like everything has gone quickly but then if I think back to the day we left Toronto, it feels like an eternity ago. Nelson Mandela made a similar observation about his 25 years at Robben Island prison - a day of breaking rocks can feel like forever but then, before you know it, a year has come and gone. I always...

Noosa

Our next stop was called Noosa, a popular destination for surfers. Noosa has really nice beaches, bars and resturants so on our first day we decided to check out the night life. We ended up in the surf-club which has cheap drinks and great food so suited us perfectly! The next day we went to one of australia's most famous markets called the Eumundi market. Its defo one of the best markets we've ever been to. There was so much to see and do, for example there were lots of different food stalls...

Quick night in Noosa... If Surfers is Myrtle then Noosa is Nantucket. GORGEOUS beach town teeming with young families, socialite wannabes, and miniature dogs. It's a great spot for a vacation so it's easy to see why the aussie's love it: a great beach with fabulous surfing bordered by a National Forest where koalas are spotted daily. We went on a hike and almost immediately our nature loving fellow-traveller Ti found a cuddly little guy hugging his eucalyptus. Even if you aren't one to go gag...
