Jeremy's bachelor weekend, and Barrio-on-the-sea

Hi everybody! This week's edition of "our life is better than yours" is Jeremy authored, for reasons that will become apparent. It also jumps around a little bit chronologically, so apologies in advance for the incoherence...

So going back a couple of blog posts... we were very excited to have found a nice, cheap flight out of somewhat …

The hike to Ciudad Perdida (The Lost City) in northern Colombia had always been on our list of must do's in South America. It was dirty, sweaty, smelly, bug infested and we were continually lied to by our guide about how it was "only 20 minutes more" to our next camp/snack/swimming hole. That said, I would recommend it to anyone.

Taganga is a small fishing village along the coast from Santa Marta. Itīs popular with tourists but it's got a bit of local charm. Itīs got a beach which isnīt great but we hiked around the cliff to Playa Grande which is much nicer.

The food here is ace because itīs all fresh fish, which I would claim to not be a fan of but I have found …

A 4 hour bus ride from Cartagena took us to Taganga. The town has a reputation for being a coastal resort for backpackers and being the cheapest place in the world to learn to dive. I was not sure that that latter would make for the best circumstances to dive but I had not been in the water for a couple of months so was …

The open water course took 3 days, and threw us right in the deep end with a 12m dive on our first day. We saw lobsters, rays, eels, blow fish, angel fish and a whole host of other fish that i'm sure have weird and wonderful names but, let's be honest, most of the time I …

We didn't spend much time here, only a night either side of our trip to the Parque Tyrona. Breakfast was pretty good, the pool looked nice and there is a cool bar upstairs. Rooms were small but clean and well kept with some shelves and we had a private ensuite. The staff were nice and I believe the owner went partying with some of the guests until the morning! giddy up
