... weren't fit for much, Brian spent the next two days by the pool. On the Sunday Steve and Brian signed up to get their scuba diving PADI license. They completed a four day course with a company called Octopus, the entire course only cost around 200 Euros so it was very good value for money. The reason the course was so cheap was because there are numerous diving schools in Taganga. The boys started off with a pool session on the Sunday/Monday morning, here they learned all ...
Taganga, Colombia worping09... the sensual humidity of the climate in Northern Colombia. Great people with their Colombian Flair...glittery high heal shoes, low cut tops to show off what you got, and the tight pants and shorts no matter what shape or size you are they got the confidence to wear it because they believe... life is beautiful. And the music...you can´t help but shake what you got also....Mike is working on it. Let me put this into perspective. I was walking along toward a store to ...
Parque De Nacionale Tayrona, Magdalena, Colombia destin8ionTo get to Tayrona National Park, we slosh though fishy smelling laneways at the back of the public markets in search of the local bus, which drops us off at the park entrance. Some kind Colombian tourists give us a lift for the 4km into the park to the coast. It is then an hour and a half walk through humid jungle and along beaches to the accommodation (and the only beach that is rip-free and safe to swim on). Maybe we should have hired a horse or two.
Our accommodation is ...

Parque Tayrona, Magdalena, Colombia malvada... at yesterday. They were just opening the doors. I asked in Spanish "albiertio" which I thought was open? And was quickly corrected by Christie to “abierto”. Christie's Spanish has really come along and she frequently converses in Spanish now, whereas I still jumble up my words. Yet again today a local commented on how good her Spanish was.

Inside the restaurant we selected eggs for breakfast, in fact, that’s nearly all that was on the menu. “Huevos ...
Taganga, Colombia casebrownfamily... We met some other folks that wanted to go to Tayrona (Borko, Julian, and Sarah) and we all got together the next morning to hop on a bus to Santa Marta and then to Tayrona. Once in Tayrona, we had to walk a couple hours to get to the beach, which was definitely worth it! What we walked through was something between a forest and a jungle. There were lots of vines, millipedes, lizards, and this phallic red beaded plant. There are also ...
Taganga, Colombia ochavez79... got moving, it was 1pm and HOT. And julian didnt have sneakers and was carrying a huge bag in each hand which involved some crazy rock climbing type hiking, and doing the whole thing barefoot.

Along the trail, Vanessa was the cheif wildlife spotter. She found a snake that was skinny and grey and looked just like the vine it was hanging from, milipedes, butterflies, birds, and a whole stream of leaf'cutter ants. We marveled at ...
Taganga, Magdalena, Colombia calkeebler... there were no hostels in Santa Marta. There is one bad hostel in Santa Marta, but there are also cheap hotels with A/C and showers for excellent prices.
During our day stay here, we went swimming but when it began to rain and the runoff from the village started bringing trash into the ocean we decided to head back to our hostel. We ate at a really good sandwich down the street from La Casa de Felipe Hostel. Highly recommended!
Taganga, Colombia heidir... sing tunes never heard before; shy monkeys scamper through the underbrush just out of site; millions of leaf-cutter ants march in wide swaths carrying their loads proudly; the most brilliant of butterflies floats by as if created by Pixar. Some sounds are indescribable yet exotic.

What was that??

The beach itself was great, but as I said I didn't get a lot of sun ...
Parque Tayrona, Magdalena, Colombia sabarod... br>
Picture a beach with warm green water. A small cove nestled by two large rocky hills. On a pile of rocks, high up, is 20 hammocks under a thatched roof for sleeping. The sand is light beige and the sun is bright and warm. Coconut trees line the beach... and only a handful of tourists are walking around.

Welcome to El Cabo beach in Tyrona.

It was, hands down, the best beach I'd ever seen in all of my travels.
