Great (and only) backpackers in Kigali

Were very satisfied with our accom in KIgali. The position in the city is perfect, and the hostel is clean and friendly. While it is rather expensive to stay here ($20 camping!!) it is an expensive city so the price seems right. Close to all amenities and knowledgeable about things to do in Kigali and Rwanda too.

Believe it or not, Rwanda has the most organized airport and cleanest area in East Africa. I arrived at Kigali International Airport at 6:40 P.M, picked up my bags around 7:30 because i had to go through immigration. 20 minutes later i walked outside to meet Isaura who was patiently waiting for me for hours. I am really thankful for her help …

I heard a "cluck, cluck" coming from it occasionally. People were now sitting in the centre jump seats to make room for everybody. One lady who got on was wearing a gorgeous dress of traditional kanga …

So after a hectic couple of weeks packing up the house, sorting travelling items, seeing friends/family and rushing around the country we were quite relieved to finally be on the plane and not to have to think for once.

A 6:50 flight from Heathrow meant 4 hours sleep :-( Checked in fine and they did not ask about our onwards flight which …

Meeting my family

... 9:00 we enjoyed supper, and I learned that the cook is absolutely wonderful. Normal meals are a variety of the following general dishes: rice, beans, veggies, maybe a beef dish, potatoes and/or plantains.

Before and after supper we enjoyed watching tv and also had hot tea. I am not a hot tea consumer, but I certainly will indulge in a cup of this heavenly beverage at least once an evening. The spices and flavor of the tea are incredible. Some even say the best in the world.

... for marriage, a deep union of love and respect between a husband and wife were very encouraging to the young adults. Several told me afterward they look forward to entering such a loving bond of closest friendship.

After the service ended, while the women were getting preparing lunch, Marjolaine and I set off to visit two families in their homes. My time in country is so short during my visits to African countries that I rarely have time to visit most ...
