Small village on the main road but Tucan Hotel set back. Not cheap and only 2 showers/toilets shared between up to 4 people in treehouse, 4 in hammocks, multiple others camping plus 12 people in dorms when fully occupied. Female shower/toilet always full of men as bigger - thankfully came when quiet.

Cocked up the directions to the falls, Cascadas Verde & didn't turn left before hardware store. Ended up crossing the river ...

Take me to the sunset!

... I get tired just watching the surfers tying to paddle out! Unfortunately itīs not really a swimming beach..more like a walk a little ways into the surf break until you get knocked over- Iīm sure we look really cool when we attempt to cool off! While on the beach we ran into this guy Jon-o, whom I met on my initial bus ride from San Jose to the Nicoyan Peninsula. Heīs from the states but resides here permanently now and works at a surf camp, but has this month off ...

San Isidro-- Driving the Moutain of Death

After dropping Bev off at the airport we headed straight out of town. Of course this took us a good hour due to traffic and the inability to get proper directions! The map I we had purchased at a hotel the day when we came into the country was supposedly up-to-date, but so far I had counted around 10 mistakes. The San Jose portion was no different. By the time we got out of the city it was around 3 PM so we only had a few hours of daylight left and we still had to go ...

Big Daddy Weeve

... on my iTUNES and was listening to some music and came across "What Life Would Be Like" by Big Daddy Weave. I had forgotten when I had downloaded this song or what it was even about so I turned it on and listened to it. It is truly such a beautiful song, I think the overall meaning of the song is directing to something along the same lines but different than what I got out of it. But the beautiful thing that kept jumping out at me while ...

Cascada Verde

Hey Update. I'm currently in Uvita Costa Rica at a place called Cascada Verde. This place is pretty awesome in the jungle with a crazy view looking out to the ocean. The people are all so different, each one is so unique. There is this lady from Germany GashaNe who quit her Lawyer job and came here to volunteer and do yoga... she's like 50 and has this funny broken English. I find my self laughing not only at her but with her constantly ...

Moving (on) Mountains

... the confidence of a rich American in a Costa Rican hooker bar. I anticipated the standard questions and answered with absolute fluidity. I'm going to Buffalo. Flying to Phoenix. Starting a big trip through Latin America. But then things started to go slightly awry. I don't have a ticket, I booked it on the internet. I didn't print out the confirmation, I never need it. His next statement was like a knife in the back: "Well, I can't let you into the United ...

Christmas in Uvita

... to float along in the water for a while pretending I was a crocodile, so the day was still enjoyable. Phil took Ani to the swimming area near the local waterfall, where she apparently clung to him like a barnacle in the waist-high water. This is the same child who had to be physically restrained from throwing herself into the pounding surf in Dominical. Sheīs funny, thatīs for sure.... The hotel is great, and I would recommend it even if Trey hadnīt put ...
