Malta was run by the Grand Master, and the Cathedral of St. John was dedicated to the GM at the time, also named John. I have never seen so much gilding—the glare from the gold hurt the eyes. We headed back into Corfu Town, took pictures of the old fort, walked our bikes through the pedestrian shopping area and then down the road bordering the water. The Veranda restaurant appealed to us and we had our perfect Greek lunch of Greek salad, calamari, Filo wrapped feta cheese with honey and sesame seeds, Mythos beer and retsina. Free WiFi meant that we could chat with James as he was still up in the middle of ...

... the summer rush was over, but we still found the weather delightfully warm and swimmable. Had a couple of lovely wines on the waterfront.

... lunch on board. Corfu was impressive from what we saw. Very lush and green with a gorgeous coastline - you have to leave something to come back and explore! Tonight's entertainment was really fantastic - "East Coast Boys" a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Season" - great to sing along to 4 guys singing with perfect harmony together with a live band. It is still raining a seas a little rougher - but it is meant to be fine in Athens ...

... we were back on the bus to continue up the mountain side of Lakones with more stunning views of Paleokastritsa. The next stop was a traditional village of Makrades where we went to a charming taverna and had a traditional Greek appetiser - meze and local wine. The taverna's interior was decorated with traditional 18th & 19th century agricultural tools and an intriguing old olive press. Afterwards we had free time to explore the village. There were ...
