11/02 Boarding Princess

Somehow stuff was more difficult to get into the suitcases than to get out, but we were already to go by 11am. The owner of the B&B had to let us off in the parking lot and we took a bus to Princess. We had to yell at the driver to stop as he went whizzing by, but were grateful that he didn't leave us there and zoom off with out luggage. We headed out of town to Achilleion Palace, the retreat for the Empress Elizabeth of Austria. We had learned about her life when we were in Vienna last year. She built this house in Corfu in late 19th century style and decorated it with Gods of Ancient Greece, primarily Achilles for which the palace is named. We arrived in Corfu in quite heavy rain. We had organized a hire car for €43 which was very reasonable, and decided we would continue on with our plans. We drove to Paleokastritsa Bay which would have been beautiful on a nice day with a very rugged coastline and beaches.
