... Sultans which was built by the Muslims but defeated by Napoleons soldiers and partly destroyed then changed to Christianity in the 1800s. The carved ceilings and Sultans quarters were interesting and the fountains everywhere made it more interesting. Great guide who was very knowledgable ok heaps,of photos and highly recommend a visit as it is one of their main tourist attractions with 8000 people a day going thru the gates. ...

... Dom and I ended up going with our teacher, Guillermo, to have a traditional Valencian lunch. We got the menu of the day which meant we got a drink, first meal, second meal, and dessert. It all tasted amazing and the main course was paella, which Valencia is known for.

Although the train ride home was a couple hours, it really only felt like five minutes as I fell asleep before we pulled out of the station ...

... In the grocery store you have to pay to get a plastic bag. There are large glass bottle dispensers all over the cities of Lisbon and Valencia, and people actively use them. Finally, people do not unnecessarily use lights and air conditioning here. The stairwells in buildings do not tend to have lights that are constantly on, the lights in public bathrooms are motion activated, and people keep the lights and air conditioning off in their apartments unless it is necessary. ... less time then we both expected it would (a we found it with ease).

We then walked around the oldtown , taking photos of all the small alleyways and buildings. On our walk, we stopped in at the supermarket to buy some bratwurst sausages and currywurst sauce for lunch, that I was going to cook up. Nonni also continued adding to her collection of photos of coloured boiled eggs from around Europe.

Coffee on the water followed, with us just taking in the atmosphere down there ...

... place. On our final day in Valencia we walk around the city ( we had the map this time) and saw the wonderful architecture both modern and medieval. The day finished with the dish of Valencia, Paella, while Tom watched England thrash the Aussies in Cricket on the ipad and whilst I battled with my watercolours. Please note: although this blog may seem to be Aussie bashing..especially with a cricket thrashing at the end...no Australians were harmed during the course of making this ...
