A travel blog entry from Christchurch by 3vagabondsEntry 26 of a trip titled: The first big round-the-world adventure from London to Australia, Asia to Polynesia, Patagonia to the US, over 7 months living out of a backpack...
A passion to see the Inca ruins at Machu Picchu, the statues of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) and the ice glaciers in Patagonia and delve into what's left of the Amazon inspired the longest trip I've done since I first started travelling. As a visit home was in order I added Asia to the itinerary and a few other places en-route to make this a really memorable world trip. Seven months is certainly not long enough to really explore the countries that I'm going to but it will give me a base for future return trips and I'll do my best to venture off the 'tourist trail' wherever possible to get a real feel for the cultures and lifestyles that I will encounter.
A travel blog entry from Christchurch by madventuresThis log page will cover all of my travels in the South Island so that there aren't too many pages to go through. A travel blog entry from Christchurch by sanjohnnoThe flight to Christchurch from Sydney was only 3 hours. As we flew over the Southern Alps we started to get very excited about New Zealand. The mountains looked stunning from the air!!! Can't wait to get out and see this amazing country....Can't believe we're in New Zealand. We tried a couple of hostels before we got a bed in Cokers Backpackers...
A travel blog entry from Christchurch by paulandlinTraveled with Piet for a week on the South Island from 27 January - 3 February. Started out at Christchurch Airport on the 27th late at night. Picked up Piet in Christchurch, but checked in at Cokers, our home-to-be for two nights, before that. A little weird at first but that was natural. Usual rush of blindness, spent the first day half in bed...
A travel blog entry from Christchurch by katieontherunWell we are finally in our last major country (we are only in USA for 5 days) and it is all change. New Zealand has similarities to Australia but only enough to add confusion to the situation. For instance the money is not really that different but now the two dollar coin is the bigger of the two, which means I keep trying to hand over too much ...
