Camino Los Condores 996 Farellones, Chile, .
I waited around in Santiago until the snow came, then darted up to the nearby mountains to play in the powder. The mountains only got about 12cm, but after three weeks with precipitation it made all the difference. The first two days at La Parva were spectacular, and conditions stayed pleasant enough for the five days I was here. I rode three days at La Parva, one at El Colorado, and one at Valle Nevado. La Parva was my favorite for the snow conditions and terrain. Valle Nevado did a great jo...

... around (I'm sure that has a euphemistic name) and saying 'amen' etc. I walked around a little longer and saw lots more old buildings and bunches of olive green clad police guarding them. I didn't see many tourists, just plenty of busy locals. Lots of stray dogs too. Some of them are so strange, they sit at the lights waiting for the green man before they cross! Chileans do not wait for green men though, they just ...
Santiago, Chile lingo83... pot downstairs so there was plenty. There was red and white wine to go with the food, but it seemed everyone had gone for red so a few of us made the switch to white when we realised it would probably go a bit further than the red ;-) (always thinking). It was all very nice and even though it was all very disorganised, with the emergency plastic chairs and the different shapes and sized bowls and plates, but it kinda added to the experience I guess. The group ...
Santiago, Chile oldhamguy... are emo kids, malls and fast food everywhere, the place is covered in smog half the time and its got a metro system. Hey, if you ignore the spectucalur backdrop of the Andes you could pretend you were in the US. I suppose a big part of the reason I enjoyed it so much were the awesome friends we ...
Santiago, Chile shortyesquire... the wine. Very interesting education. Lorna was obviously wobbling around again by the end! We all flopped back onto the minibus, dropped on another dodgy DVD and headed off to Santiago. We arrived back at about 6.30pm. This gave us time to nip to the supermarket to grab some food. We were booked in a dorm room for our first night back. We weren't up too late before going back to the room to get some well deserved shut eye. This was fine until 4am, when a drunken foreign guy came into ...
Santiago, Chile vickersontourOh, Santiago. It's not your Paris sur La Seine or even not its closest relative - Buenos Aires, though some parallels and deja vues were invetiable. Yet it possessed some sort of quiet attractiveness or even charm that permeated you slowly but steadily so that by the end of the day you would notice that your legs try to steer away from the sleeping hole and something in you begs for a bit more time in this city. Just fifteen more minutes and then another ...
Santiago, Chile fram-o... and quince sparkled amidst a fuller bodied wine, boasting a clear, but well-balanced use of oak. The concentration of flavor permeated the tongue and the flavor lasted... and lasted... and lasted with a lingering spice. It was the perfect complement to our rich, but simply prepared seafood dishes spiked with garlic and paprika. "I LOVE MY JOB" MOMENT: Concha y Toro My driver, Hernan, was sent by the winery to pick me up for our ...
Santiago, Chile mkewineschool... which contained mostly baby clothes shops and launderay shops, which we found bizzare. Next we headed for the town of Bella Vista ( a small artist town with live music and lots of crafts) on the way we stumbled across a seafood and fruit market which was filled with blunt men and many restaurants which we found too smelly to eat at. We spend some time in there looking around at all the booths and crafts. One little gang ...
Santiago, Chile lcamp1... and some fruit and cream for dessert. The second dinner was a little disappointing. We were all waiting for our second course and discovered that the soup was the main. The spring skiing was great for us. The slopes and lifts were not crowded and we were warm enough to ski in our new second hand pants and long sleeve cotton tops. We got to the point where we could ski straight onto the lifts. The snow was slushy by ...
Farellones, Chile jill-cam... Nevado ausgetobt.
