We were staying in a 10 bed dorm, and it is easily the worst hostel that we have stayed in whilst traveling Australia. To start with when we arrived it was dimly lit, with one working light, and when we asked for others to be replaced we were told it would happen either that day or the next. It didn't, in spite of a reminder the following day. There was a dangerous multi-socket that one of the other backpackers had provided in the middle of the floor, and no other visible power sources, despite there being 10 people in the room. No cleaning was done in the 4 days we were there, and two of the people were living in the dorm and had turned it into a kind of messy squat, with very little room for other people's stuff. The kitchen was dirty and we found two cockroaches in there in the short time we stayed. We in the end didn't cook because it was too disgusting. The seating area adjacent to the kitchen was dated, worn and in need of replacement. The bathrooms were ok, but three of them had shower curtains missing, and all felt a bit dirty.
I would not recommend anyone stays here. For the price it was a total disappointment.

... Leigh went with me because we still had about 2 hours left and nothing to do. I bought a lovely strawberry tart at the bakery, which was $4.20 but still cheaper than the ice cream. I was waiting to eat it until we got back to the hotel but we ran into Dr. Morrow and his wife sitting outside another restaurant so I ate it while talking to them.
Since there was really nothing left to do we ended up leaving the Gold Coast about 15 minutes ...
