Brisbane's certainly a change after being in the massive city of Sydney, it's all so much smaller and friendlier but looking out from the roof of the hostel gave it a bit more of an industrial feel, behind us was the cargo rail line and across the river you could just see factories and distribution depots.

Gegen 19:45 in Brisbane angekommen. …
With hearing nothing but bad things about Brisbane we weren't expecting much from our short stop over there. The buzz from the mornings major good news of gras passport arriving was short lived as an hour into our 4 hour bus journey to Brisbane the bus's aircon broke, leaving a bus full of people sitting in what could only be described as a bloody …
When we arrived in Brisbane I was pretty unimpressed with the concrete, grey skies and industrial looking landscape, but I have to say, I ended up loving it!
The hostel we stayed in was shocking. A 10 bed dorm, stuffed to the rafters with people, several of whom were clearly living there and had turned the room into a bit of a dingy squat …

We were staying in a 10 bed dorm, and it is easily the worst hostel that we have stayed in whilst traveling Australia. To start with when we arrived it was dimly lit, with one working light, and when we asked for others to be replaced we were told it would happen either that day or the next. It didn't, in spite of a reminder the following day. There was a dangerous multi-socket that one of the other backpackers had provided in the middle of the floor, and no other visible power sources, despite there being 10 people in the room. No cleaning was done in the 4 days we were there, and two of the people were living in the dorm and had turned it into a kind of messy squat, with very little room for other people's stuff. The kitchen was dirty and we found two cockroaches in there in the short time we stayed. We in the end didn't cook because it was too disgusting. The seating area adjacent to the kitchen was dated, worn and in need of replacement. The bathrooms were ok, but three of them had shower curtains missing, and all felt a bit dirty.
I would not recommend anyone stays here. For the price it was a total disappointment.
